Good to see that you are well and still collecting! Thought I would share some photos from my old old office at home of my music collecting. You know how I love The Beatles-you still have Ringo in your garage!
Stay well and always look forward to checking this site for updates.
Cheers David and Vanley, Down Under

Ringo sends his best and is looking forward to his trip home lol.

Ann and I are doing just fine and still enjoy the hunt

Well another corner has been turned at the party garage.

WE HAVE STARTED THE WESTERN TOWN

I have been fretting over how to get something built to accommodate getting into the container with the door as part of the town.

Well It finally came to me how to make it all work.

I started by pouring a small slab of concrete infront of the container
Then built a walkway along the side of the other container.

(had a little trouble with my photos)

Here is a partial lay out for my town

And the slab

2019-10-30 09.23.11 by don long, on Flickr

The side walk

2019-10-30 09.24.06 by don long, on Flickr

So here's the plan.
I'll build the livery stable with a big sliding door that I can open and access the contents of the first container. (the pink boxes in the first pic. are 2 40 ft containers) the dirt will be built up to the top of the slab making it possible to pull a buggy into the livery stable. Next I built a raised walkway to start building the next 3 buildings along the wall of the 2nd container.

While waiting on the concrete slab to cure I started on the Saddle shop (next to the livery stable

Had to stop there while I go out and find some OLD doors to hang before finishing the sheeting of the framework.

my picking skills aren't so good in Southern California, but feel free to post up some pics or descriptions of what you need and maybe some of the local guys can help you.

There's a home up near Santa Clarita on Sierra Hwy (just S of Davenport Rd) that has a western town like that, He has 2 or 3 40 footers end to end with a facade like you are planning complete with wooden sidewalk etc.

This is what it looks like from the road. Address is 15001 Sierra Hwy, Santa Clarita, California. If you pull it up on google earth & use street view you'll get a better look

Hi Drives
Yes we finally hit the ground running toward the western town.
I have quite a bit of yard art for sitting around the town but if I think of something to put on my wish list I'll post it up
Thanks for dropping in.

I tried to look at his place but didn't see much. Mine will be a long project with 4 more containers to cover.

I've been patiently waiting to see the western town start. This will be interesting.

Simon
Your encouragement helped get this project off the ground
Thank You

How cool is that going to be!

Even Ann is excited to see what will happen over it the next yard

Just another day in paradise lol

A farmer around here did that with is chicken barns. Always thought they used it for a movie set but asked him one day and he said he just felt like dressing it up.

Slight brainfart, I gave you the address of the place across the street. In this image if you pull the address up on Google Maps & do street view from that red dot in the road, then look towards the arrow you'll see it when you zoom in.
Light colored part is the top of the Conexs, the grey bit is the covered sidewalk he built along the side facing the road..
No idea why the damn attachments show up so small.

Hey Bret

I'm excited to get this project looking presentable. It will have a life of its own for quite a while as I add more structures and yard art to it.

Don: not sure this is one of your ideas, but since you like these containers I saw it and thought of you.

it might save a few trees and put a few of your welding buddies to work?

Not to sidetrack the topic but to show the diversity of shipping container use these I finally found in an Album I had on the GJ from the Elmore Field Days in 2013.

Don: I was just throwing out ideas and didn't know if all your containers had your stuff in them or if you were moving in empty ones too.

your plan is coming along very nicely. keep up the great work.

Fr8: that looks pretty comfy. it sure could beat a TINY HOME and it would make a great cabin or shack in the deep woods if you could get it there.

hope you all have a great weekend!!

My containers are full of shelves and S T U F F the western town is just a way to camouflage the ugly boxes in the yard.

My containers here are full of shelves (one with car parts) as well. Painted to match the Shed.

Only thing missing is the toilet and shower. You would also need heat and cooling for it but I guess that could be done.

Weekend here is wet and miserable. After a week of early Summer we are back to a late taste of Winter. Typical Aussie Spring.

The western town is looking great! I'm always amazed at your energy level and at the speed you get things done at "The Big Party Garage".

Howdy pilgrim. You have any Redeye to wet the whistle and a place to bunk for this crusty, dusty ok’ cowpoke?

Members of GJ have taken an online poll and majority agreed with Simon on having a saloon/hotel. I doubt you want us staying in the big house. Lol.

It’s awesome the western town has started. Wish I could help.

I was just thinking if he pulls the other leg it may play Jingle Bells.

Still I have to admit the idea has merit. :lol_hitti
The Saloon that is not the poll.

Simon
The saloon is in the plan

I was all ready to load my tools into the van, pick Shorty up, and head West, but it looks like you have some help already.

Yea Toolfool
The project started out just my helper and me doing the work but one guy stopped by for a visit on Wednesday and he returned on Thursday with his tool belt ready to hit it and another friend heard the noise and came in to see what was happening and he stayed the rest of the day
Then on Friday I had a roofer scheduled to work on my work shop roof and after he got his crew to work he walked over to lend a hand so I'm used to getting help so load up and come on over.
