I am going to have my stone guys build 2 stone posts at my driveway entrance, these will be 6' tall, using light weight block and stone veneer, I have a 2' square hole dug out, wondering how deep I need to be? probably will drive some rebar in my holes. (They will match the ones on my porch)

24 seems small. You want a 12" footting sitting directly uder the block 'wall'. So if it is 6" wide block, the footing will be 3" wider, on each side. If the concrete block is 24" the footing should eb 30. IMO

Consider the width to height to 'stone sizes'... all combines to determine the 'massing' of the pillar.
Ive seen some odd looking skinny posts, not saying yours are- but look at it.

The stone column - posts on front and back porch are 35" tall and right at 20"x20" square. I got my holes dug today, I went 24" deep (frost line) right at 30" square. I will get the stone guys out here soon and see what they think will look good, 5' would work also, here are a few pics of the front porch columns from a distance

Nice look.
Its funny when engineer types (like me) start figuring numbers... gotta be careful. - an experienced stone guy will scoff at the calcs.... and say 'you want X..Y and Z.
Something else I learned with driveway pillars on hills, slopes- you DONT need to make them the same size. In fact if you do so it amplifies the slope. You can actually fudge the heights to make it less noticeable. It is kind of counter intuitive, but there ya go.

Hey, if you put a light on it, DO NOT put it on top. Put it on the face, like 2/3 to 3/4 of the way up.

Well Hell..... that is exactly what I wanted to do, I have a black 4 board fence that wraps around and runs up my drive, I have 2 post lights on top of a 6x6 posts that is 6' tall, I wanted to build these stone columns between the 6x6 and the edge of my drive way, I was going to move my lights - sticking up out of my stone columns, I have a little over 48' between the 6x6 and edge of driveway. Just curious, why don't you like lights out of the top?
(I can put it on the front, I also have an address stone marker made that I will have on the front of one of them)
