Now that's beautiful. Plus it looks like cotton candy.

Bobby

We do get some pretty sun sets here

Don, Greg B phoned me last night to ask for an update on your progress. His main concern was the fires in California but was interested to hear about the Western Town.

Simon

Tell Greg I said hi. The fires are not around here this time thank heaven

Western Town is shaping up nicely. Hope the fires are not endangering you. Looking forward to following along on this latest project.

Bob

Nice to have you checking in Bob

The western town has been slowed down a bit with a trip to Utah this week.
But plan on hitting it again next week

Today I decided to work in the garage for a while and push one of my many projects closer to the finish line. I'm working on changing the decor in my 30's garage to a pennzoil garage so today I finished painting the battery display for that garage

2019-11-09 16.51.16 by don long, on Flickr

It will go to the pinstriper for his magic next

While in Utah we found a coffee can collection that was for sale so we bought it and brought it home. Now I need to work on the general store inside the party garage to build a home for 300 coffee cans (just what I need another project)

Coffee cans should be a cool addition Don. Work does wear you down but the stress of feeling like a slug that got nothing accomplished in any given day, unless you are sick or mourning, is worse.

always love seeing what you have to post so hope you are feeling well from all the work and travel.

have a relaxing Sunday and back at it monday when you've got your helpers there.

Don, I have been following the charging station closely, it has intrigued me ever since you brought it home. I have never seen one before yours, I may have to put that on my "to make list" in retirement, the color scheme looks fantastic

Don, the battery display looks great! I have been working on a couple of surprise items for you to use when entertaining in the party garage. Hopefully I can get those to you by Christmas.

I will do that. Greg is talking about going back to see you in 2020 although if Bonneville is on hold I doubt he will be traveling.

Tin collection looks like a great score.

Thanks Simon
It would be nice to see you guys again

Those coffee cans are a big hit with Ann. She has been sorting and stacking them all day today. I agree with you on the feeling of accomplishment at the end of a hard days work. It is all good.

Thanks for the visit Drives
You always put a smile on my face. You were right about being tired from travel but all is well now and I'm back at it. The battery display is on hold again til I make a little more headway on the western town.

Thank you for those kind thoughts. I found that battery display/charger in an antique shop in a little place called Oatman Arizona and like you I had never seen anything like it before and had to have it so I made an offer on it and they let me take it home.

Got tired so I came in a little early from work today.
Worked on the western town til noon today then started building shelves for the coffee display on the outside of the country store while Ann restocked the shelves inside.

The western town Lawyers office
Got the windows rebuilt and installed along with some left over siding from my house project.

Love the coffee can collection and it made me chuckle a bit at how now days metal coffee cans are collectible. I even have a few that I rescued from being nut and bolt containers from my dads garage years ago. He saved them because they were sturdy and he couldn’t bear to throw them out. Now I look at them and realize they are so old that some young people won’t know that coffee was commonly sold that way. Now they are too special to hold old nails, nuts and bolts. Your display shelves look great.

Don: Western town is really looking good so keep up the good work.

I love old coffee cans, but I don't have anywhere to display them. I really have a hard time throwing even an old Folgers can out if it's rusty and I almost tore my nephew's head off cause he wanted to mix paint in one.

your (or ANN'S) Country store insides is really coming along nicely!!

keep taking rests or breaks as you need to so you'll live long enough to see all the smiles of people seeing your creations.

cheers!!

It would be great to get back again and see all the progress on the Delivery and the Western Town etc. Not sure of Greg B's plans given Bonneville 2020 may not be held and my plans will have to wait as well. The photo progress looks good.

Thanks Simon

so cool!!

Nice of you to stop in Jeff Thanks

Hi Bob
It still amazes me to think that the stuff we used as kids is so valuable now days.
Some of those coffee cans are worth hundreds of dollars and not one coffee can is worth less than $15.00 We did real well buying this collection for less than $8.00 per can

Rest assured that I'm pacing myself out in the yard. We have had 2 great weather days to work in this week mid 70s to low 80s Tee shirt and shorts how sweet is that?

i like those projects, both the western town and the general store. The last picture made me think "Wow! That is nice!"

The nice sunset almost get me to forget a cold, dark and wet Stockholm.

Thank you patlun

Don: once you got going on your WESTERN TOWN it's full speed ahead. looks great from my chair and I bet ANN is liking it too.

yep I remember being in your part of the world a couple years ago around this time and it was mid 90's. GEESH

it's 40's and raining here but today might be dry so I can move some stuff outside and get my bride's car back in the garage before it snows.

JB: I think Don is buying siding (GINGERBREAD) and maybe you knew that, but I did have to think for a minute and say why would lawyer's need gingerbread to eat.

Don,

Maybe I missed it somewhere..but do you need permit(s) to build your town?

:headscrat:headscrat:headscrat:headscrat Didn't ask lol

Curious what the gingerbread will be used for in an attorney's office. :headscrat
Great progress too, really taking shape fast.

Sorry bout your bad weather Drives
This western town is a complete change of pace from my shop work and I'm really enjoying the work. It is a challenge however.

Hard to believe that I was there before all this started work. The progress is so good.
Motivation for me to get stuck into things here comes from Don and often from Drives topic.

Simon
Just let me know how I can help lol.

So if Anne was very happy, does that mean Don was very happy as well? Asking for a friend.

Coffee can display(s) look great. Looking forward to seeing the jack put back together.

Don: so you never drank much or any coffee too? i never did like it even when loading it up with good creme and sugar, but the smell does have some appeal to me. in your business when you were running the best auto repair shops in the USA you didn't drink coffee or smoke. no wonder you have so much energy and get so much done cause you never got used to taking breaks all the time.

your western town is coming along nicely so keep up the good work!!

BTW I still can hear those coffee commercial songs and words.

Thanks Drives.
You are always one of my best supporters. and you.re correct no coffee, alcohol, or tobacco.

I've been working on my blackhawk jack for a while and it's getting closer to the finish line. I spent the day putting it back together after receiving the chrome pieces.

It is starting to look like a show piece

I haven't posted any progress photos of the western town for a couple of days cause I couldn't find my phone. So here is how it looks this afternoon.

The ginger bread is starting to go on the Lawyer's office

2019-11-16 14.27.21 by don long, on Flickr

The door and windows are in the country store

2019-11-16 14.27.17 by don long, on Flickr

And the saddle shop is finished except for some railing around the porch

2019-11-16 14.27.17 by don long, on Flickr

Next will be finishing the face of the general store with a porch and building above it.

also nice to see that your weather is about perfect for working outside even though it's November and most of us are getting on our long underware.
