One Mini Split for Two Rooms - Unique Setup - Think This Will Work

This will sound weird because of the layout but it's part of my new shop build that will start soon. So my idea is to climate control two rooms with one single stage mini split.

So all block construction. Two room, each 8' X 15' butted together on the 8' end. Basically an 8' X 30' room with a block wall in the center separating it into two rooms.

One room will need to be as cool or warm as I want it to be for comfort. The other will just need to be climate controlled for storage purposes (not super humid, super cold, or super hot).

So, what if the block wall between the two room has two block left out. One near the ceiling and one near the floor, in the center of the wall. Each missing block had a fan installed blowing the opposite direction as the other. The purpose would be to exchange the air between the two rooms.

So, as the single stage mini split controlled the one room to the comfort level I wanted, and the air was constantly exchanged between the two rooms, it seems the other rooms would stay at a reasonable temp and humidity level for storage purposes.

Thoughts? Is this ridiculous?

So 16x30? Theoretically it would work but probably easier to just get two head units and put in the center wall.

The fans will need controllers to speed up and slow down as well as ceiling fans to move the non conditioned room air around. Plus you would need to make covers to close it off. Just sounds like a pain

You could get a fan-tech in-line fan and run a 4" duct to the other end of the second room. You could install a Tjernlund Airshare. Prior to doing either I would cut registers high and low in the corners of the adjoining rooms. If light and sound are important, Tammarack tEchnologies make wall pass throughs that have styrofoam baffles to reduce both. Air wants to move and differences in temperature will be the driving force. The non-conditioned room will not be the same temp as the conditioned space, but it will be moderated some. Every system has a personality. The advantage of not using a dual mini-split is that you can get single units of very high efficiency from high 20's to mid-30's seer. Multis are in the 16-18 range.

Need a floor plan, but there are thru-wall fan applications (quiet/low speed) designed for this use case. I may use them on a garage apartment plan to cool a bathroom that is otherwise cut off from the ductwork, but put the fans (push/pull config) on switches.

If you have GOOD insulation (walls and ceiling) in both rooms you have a shot ! Block is NOT good insulation.

The block will be insulated in the cores as the wall goes up. Minimal insulation value there. The interior will also have rigid foam insulation. Exterior will be insulated down the road when the exterior is finished. At first, it will just be block exterior.

Thanks for the replies everyone. After looking at so many options, right now I've decided to punt this decision til later. The wall that separates the two room was planned to be block just because they were gonna be laying block there anyway. After further thought, initial construction will not have a wall separating the rooms. It will start as one long room and I'll frame a stud wall when I figure out exactly what I'm doing with climate controls in those rooms.
