Not the normal automotive tool haul, but a contractors tool haul.
Guy got hit by the economy pretty hard, and I made a bid on all of his contracting tools.
Took a few days of negotiation but we finally came to a deal.
Here are a few pictures of the tools "organized".

Not to be a downer, but this is really sad. I don't know how this guy got to this point but these were the tools he used to make his living.

If I had more money I would buy some but I need all my money to just keep my house as I am in construction in Michigan, its not good around here.

that is an impressive list of tools for just 2k. You got a helluva deal. it does **** though that the economy is so bad that people are selling their livelihood to stay alive.

Yes its sad when someone has to sell his tools to make ends meet, but,,,,,,,,,,if you are the best offer you are willing to pay more than anyone else so far and the fellow has the choice to take your offer or wait for another.

And there is always the possibility that the guy got over his head by spending money he did't have. While I have sympathy for and financially give to folks who are ill, laid off, and also those trying to recover from addictions, I don't have much sympathy for folks who piss away their money on foolish things rather than saving for a rainy day or living within their means.

It is a nice haul.

But, as others mentioned, it kind of bums me out as far as the circumstances go.

I used to look for deals around here (Michigan)but theirs so much that I don't even look at craigslist anymore because I know I will find something I will want to buy but have no business buying.

Yea I will get non-iphone pictures tomorrow!
Yea times are tough, but cash in his hand was better than 2 storage units full of tools that did not see much use.
50% of the tools were never used.

Quoted for agreement :(

I never understand why people sell their tools.

Its called needing to "eat" for lack of a better description. Ive been there.

thankfully ive never been to the point where ive had to sell off tools. it's been close a couple times, i (personally) would sell off most of my guns, and reloading equipment before i'd let my tools go. :(
i make my living with those tools, even if i wasnt working, i'd still need some of them to try to get some side cash to pay bills. i know if i sell the stuff, i'll probably never replace it, guns included

it's still sad :(
