My PS told me that the free shipping is over. Since all of the local sears stores are closed near me, I think that I might be done. There is an Outlet store near me. I asked if I could order through the PS and pickup in the Outlet. She said maybe.

I am on the same boat here @tjpavlov, all local Sears stores near me are closed.

Question, the free shipping for $10 or above thru PS is officially dead, yeah?

If yes, what does everyone do now? Are you still playing games, and what are those points for? I guess if you planning to order $35 OOP or above then those points can be useful.

Sadly I have ~$5 in both mine and my wife account that is going to go to waste.

I wonder if they going to start letting go PS. I can not imagine there are a lot of business going thru PS. One might as well order straight from the website right?

Yep, except for people who want a price match and don't know chat can do that, I guess. Like I said a couple days ago:

...
Oh, AND if anyone who had been relying on PS free shipping still wants to mess with ordering from Sears/Kmart, there's not a whole lot of reason to spend time on messing with the PS app-only communication during limited hours anymore. Use chat if you need a price-match, or place the order yourself if you don't.

I still have a local store or else I'd be done too.

As for what you could do with the leftover points you still have:

If you ever travel past a still-open Sears, you could order something for pickup there. So far, Sears has never automatically cancelled store pickup orders on anyone, even if they sit for months before being picked up. Kmart on the other hand is strict about cancelling after a week or two of it sitting (I forget exactly how many days for Kmart, but it's short).

Or if you have a friend or family member near a still-open store, you could send them a little gift by selecting their store and giving that person's name as an alternate pickup person when you place the order.

Thursday expected game schedule:
8-11am CT $2 bonus in app
1-3pm CT $3 bonus in app
2-3pm CT $2 WW Xtra
4-5:30pm CT $2 bonus in app
4-5pm CT $5 WW Xtra
7-8pm CT $3 WW Xtra
7-9pm CT $5 bonus in app

or a GJer here. that was my suggestion last year about this time after the bankruptcy scare when my sears was closing down. i figure id rather give something random away than let sears keep the points, but thats just me.

btw...kmart is 14 days before they cancel.

Well finally got my last shipment for a while today from UPS.

Citi is acting goofy like they either have no clue what I mean when I say switch the card to ThankYou Points or that they can't.

It won't really matter though as I have switched to the Paypal Cashback MasterCard which is 2% (4% for 90 days) Cashback to either make a payment with, pocket, or make an online/PP debit purchase with.

It works out nice because PP will even give 2% back on Utility Bills while SYW was 1%.

I am rather soured on the SYW Card overall, was so many headaches like it was ran by people who had no real clue.

PP seems to get things answered rather quickly and is known to offer more deals like Statement Credits or lower APR if you spend a decent amount while Citi seems like you gotta spend double what I do monthly to ever really get SCs and refuse to lower the APR.

Sounds like that's for the best. IIRC, Citi's TYP have a lower-than-cash value unless you redeem for certain travel stuff.

Guys, this thread and deals would not exist if it weren't for Hexen. If you have points and all of your stores have closed, ordering for Hexen to pick up would be an awesome token of appreciation! I'm down to one store and hour away, but I have 2 Hometown stores about 45 minutes away. I can still order and pay for items online to pick up at my Hometown store, but it doesn't seem like they are restocking much in the tiny tool section.

Who is this Hexen person you speak of? J/K.:lol_hitti

Thanks again Hexen for all your work and helping remind us of the time and even helping us keep up with stuff mentioned at SD or FB as it's fun to keep track of all the sites at once sometimes.

I'll be curious to see how Sears & Kmart survives as time goes on as it seems to keep being a bumpy road with speed bumps.

I don’t know if they can. I have a Sears City Thank You which I believe transferred from an old Sears Gold MasterCard, and the SYW card (as well as the blue regular card).

Just got an iBotta email saying for "Pre-Black Friday" that they are raising the Online Cashback from Sears to 7% vs the typical 3%.

The T&C make it sound like an order can't have Points, so YMMV.

Wow, heads-up for anyone still playing SYW games who has a Facebook account, you should probably stop trying to do the Facebook-share spins. According to several people on SD yesterday, SYW share-spam has now been classified as "abusive" by Facebook, and one person even says "My Facebook account I have had for 8 years was deactivated for that and it claimed it was a violation of their TOS. I contacted them for weeks and they never answer me." (Obviously that person's problem predates the latest escalation, which apparently blocks sharing attempts up-front as of yesterday.) I do not have a FB account myself.

Some other important information from someone on SD this afternoon,
" Points don't work on Grocery/Paper/Pet stuff at shopyourway.com anymore. Ordered some cat food on Nov 13th with points at shopyourway.com, but today Nov 19 points cannot be applied for the same items. "

A workaround that usually works is at least on mobile seems to be cancel it without actually hitting share.

Oddly on my iOS 11 device, it seems just clicking the FB button is enough, it never even brings up the Share Window, but allows the spin. This doesn't work for the FB WL Spin though.

FB used to complain like "We find this suspicious, are you a robot?" before, but a really good way around it that I found was, FB has a setting near the bottom where the Share Button is, to say "Only Me", in other words it will only post to your timeline, not to anyone else. WL & XTra both work doing this "sharing only with yourself" just like you'd do with a candy bar.

I guess because FB's system knows only you see the "spam" (self-spamming), it doesn't seem to trigger the deactivation or spam issues like sharing it with others.

Yeah, the Xtra FB shares have worked for me for years from the Android phone app without having an FB account, but the WL ones don't. (Xtra FB shares on the desktop site do require a FB account.) (WL Twitter also requires an account, which I do have and used to share to, but gave up on it quite a while ago when the app kept breaking its Twitter integration.)

"Only Me" option is a good tip for those with an account doing the WL FB, thanks.

Terrible news. My store that survived the Nov 6-7 closure announcements? It's now getting hit with a stealth closure.  Beaumont, TX Sears will be closing in Feb 2020. I just drove past yesterday around 5pm and the signs weren't up then, so they must have just gone up today 11/20/19.

The only thing left for me will be a Hometown out in Liberty, way out of my way except for a couple times a year.

"End of an Era" indeed.

Sorry to hear that. Many of us know exactly how that feels. ☹️ That plus the end of using points purchases to qualify for small order free shipping with PS has ended the Sears tool train for many of us.

I know others say this out of anger and emotion, but I am asking this 100% seriously.

Is Sears/Kmart actually trying to reel in shoppers?

It seems like they are doing everything in their power to be against shoppers.

I'm beginning to wonder about those who say it's just a milking of the company before it shuts down.

How many stores are left ?

This is getting really bleak.

According to Google, it's claiming 177, but it doesn't say if it includes in-progress closings.

I just feel bad not doing my orders with them anymore as I was a local-Sears Shopper since my childhood as myself and others got their school clothing there. My family even had their credit cards back in the 90s/early 2000s.

But it just seemed as time went on, they just started lowering their stock and raising prices.

Without a local store, most orders don't make financial sense for me to order from them now.

It's sort of like JCPenny, they had great stuff for a while but seem like they sell stuff for smaller people and being an almost 6ft broad shoulder guy, I feel like I'm putting on children's clothes at my local JCPenny. :lol_hitti

I used to get some small electronics at JCPenny but they like Kmart seem to want like $10-$15+ more than other stores that sell the exact same item.

I think the total after all the ones on the Nov 6-7 list close in early Feb was going to be 182 according to corporate, but that is 122 Sears and 60 Kmarts. Now that more stealth closings are already happening (really blindsided me, I'd thought they'd stop after the Nov 6-7 list until after Christmas), it will keep shrinking.

My JCP has a pretty large 'big & tall' section, but I know selection varies widely since they have several sizes of stores and mine is on the larger end.

If you have a Kohl's, you might give them a try for clothes and small appliances and such. They have reasonable sale prices, just don't ever pay full-price there.

$0.80 Wed. Not the $20 I was hoping for! :p Hoping to be able to afford one last expensive item on Monday with the upcoming $10 coupon, but it's not looking very encouraging yet. ;) I did get a $2 boost from price adjustments, though.

Disappointing Thursday... won $0.25 total, but as if that wasn't low enough, $0.14 bafflingly decided to expire when nothing was scheduled to expire until Monday. Oh, and to make up for it, I have a couple new freecash offers... $35 off $400, and $85 off $1099. A wee bit out of my price range.

Friday expected game schedule:
11am-12pm CT $3 bonus in app
2-3pm CT $2 WW Xtra
3-4:30pm CT $4 bonus in app
6:30-9pm CT $5 bonus in app

Maybe just a coincidence but it seems like people on FB are reporting more things breaking oddly since the PS no-FS Announcement.

So far Citi still seems to be slugging with giving me any of the SYW Card statement credits so far but they say it can take 1-2 months after the promos end.

I must admit, I have been enjoying my Paypal Card now even though they have a strange website of logging in to Paypal first then click to view the card.

It's so nice to see my charges immediately pending vs 2-3 days later and their CS actually seems competent and trained compared to Sears. The SYW Card seems to have outsourced CS and have no clue what I am saying.....

Is the branded store of a card usually responsible for CS? I ask because I still don't get how Citi has nice CS for their card but lousy CS for the Sears card by them.

Won $3 this morning! :)

It's probably related to losing hundreds of HQ employees again last week. Fewer and fewer people know how to do/fix anything there.

I'm not sure, I would assume it's Citi providing the CS, but it may be that they offer several different levels of service quality depending on what the client company is willing to pay for, and Sears apparently signed up for the cut-rate package staffed by the reps who barely passed their English classes. ;)

I was beginning to wonder if they actually used SYW people for it, because it's the same issue with them.

Even just talking to SYW to fix a problem, it's like I feel that they are not understanding a word that I am saying and I feel more confused.....:lol_hitti

Strangely when a supervisor for SYW or the SYW Card, it always seems to be a woman who speakers perfect English and understands everything, making you wonder why they didn't put her on to begin with......:headscrat

I know the answer to that for sure - they don't have enough of those people. They'd rather have, say, 100 hard-to-understand-but-cheap people handling most of the phone calls (and if half of the customers get frustrated and give up without getting what they wanted, so much the better, they think), and 3 better-paid better-trained supervisors. I've read a few articles about what it's like in Indian call centers, here's one for example; the better workers are in hot demand amid the masses of lower-quality workers.

The texting coupon started working a day early! Unfortunately my prediction of it being in-store-only was correct. I even tested using it online to make sure, and got "We're sorry, this coupon is only eligible in our stores and not online."

[11/4:] Sears and Kmart Black Friday ads have been posted.
...
But the big deal is, from Nov 24 through Dec 1 ... you will be able to "Text THANKS 73277 to receive a $10 Coupon to redeem on a qualifying purchase of $10 or more at Sears stores." I expect that, like the last several times they've done similar coupons, this will be restricted to one usage per SYW account (and requiring use of your account to redeem it), and probably for in-store use only.

Here are the full terms:

" A GIFT FOR YOU! $10 off on your next instore purchase.
Associate instructions:
1) SYW membership Required.
2) Limit one per member, per household.
3) No photocopies, screenshots, printouts allowed.
Terms & Conditions
Member offers: Offer valid instore only. Use of this coupon constitutes your acceptance of the SYW terms and conditions available at www.shopyourway.com/terms; All offers: Not valid on Every Day Great Price, Hot Buys, Special Purchases, Introductory Offers, Insane Deals, clearance, closeouts, gift cards, catalog orders & protection agreements, items not sold by Kmart [doh, they meant to say Sears]. Limit one coupon per person. Redemption limited to one time use of either digital or in-store printed version. Void if transferred, copied or obtained via unapproved means. Cash value 1/20 cent. Coupon savings may be deducted from refund. Cannot be used with other discounts. Offer valid instore only till 12/1/19 "

Update: Now confirmed by someone on SD to already be usable in-store 11/23, even in soon-to-be-liquidated stores: "Worked for me today in store that is scheduled to close next feb, liquidate after Thanksgiving."

i dont see any limitations saying not valid at hometown stores

True! That might just be due to the Kmart mistake (if they pasted in the terms from a Kmart coupon, it wouldn't have mentioned Hometown); or it might be that with the acquisition that took effect last month, they are actually going to accept coupons like this at Hometowns. Hopefully someone with a Hometown nearby will try it and let us know how it goes.

$1.10 all in two plays too, the rest absolutely nothing. That and the price drop on one of my items made it incredibly difficult to redeem the points, freecash and get the total where I wanted.
