Light bulb question

I have an outside light on my shop . It has a frosted glass cover. I have installed two 60 watt LED bulbs ( 9 actual watts ) in the fixture and both did the same thing after a few months.

The come on but they start blinking off and on fast. The bulbs are the walmart brand ( Great Value ) I have two inside the shop and none have did this.

I leave these bulbs on at night which make my camera look like daytime inside. These bulbs are rated for indoor/outdoor enclosed light fixtures.

My outside light is open on the bottom but don't see where they would make a different. Ones in shop are just screwed in fixture in ceiling , no globe .

Any thoughts or is just this bad bulbs ? or bad luck ?

just a thought, are they rated to burn up and you have them burning down?

Might be worth running the experiment with a different brand of bulb? There are some brands I won’t buy anymore I’d had such bad luck with them.

Is anything else on the circuit that could be doing something funky to the waveform?

Yes, there is one more light that I also keep on at night and it works fine. Same brand bulb. I also keep one on in the back of shop that is exactly the same.

Nothing has been done to the circuit. Everything is in metal conduit. Anyway I can check to see if something strange is going on ? or maybe just buy a different brand bulb and see what happens. I just noticed I kept the walmart receipt and I bought this now blinking bulb Oct 15th .

There was a storm about a year ago that knocked out all the bulbs I had on. Nothing else, just these three 60 watt LED's that I keep on at night.

Now that I think about it my camera alert went off twice this year. I played it back and noticed the inside bulbs blink once like a power surge but nothing else was bothered. They never blew and have worked great since, just sent a camera alert.

No, just plain simple LED light bulbs , general purpose non dimmable like I have been using for a while.

No dimmer, timer, or any other electronic equipment is on this circuit? Nothing plugged into any receptacles that are on this circuit?
If no, then replace the bulbs.

Some of the LED bulbs have the extra extra white material above the screw. Although they too claim to be A19 form factor as are standard incandescents, it seems to prevent the bulb from fully seating in the socket. The plastic(?) hits the shield that the socket is surrounded by.

Twice I have had to trim down the height of the outer shield 1/8" so the bulb makes contact with the inner shell contact. Both times have required partial disassembly of the fixture to get access to the shield. The problem didn't come back once trimmed.

Kind of had something like that happen to me. I put a screw in photo eye on my front porch light, which has a LED bulb. The thing would look like a strobe light at night. Ended up just taking the photo eye back off. It was even rated for a LED lamp.

Thanks for all the help. Just strange that the first LED I put in it lasted this long and the other one only a month with both doing the same thing.

One inside on same circuit has never went out in the almost two years I have been back at this shop.

I will buy a better brand and see how it goes.
