What hammer is this

This might be a stupid question but what is this hammer used for, I know it is a vintage snap on.

Its a SO deadblow ball-peen hammer as stated earlier. I had a version similar from about 25 years ago in brilliant orange...except the orange molding started chunking off all over the handle after 20 years and also on its mate the soft-faced deadblow bought at the same time. I was able to secure replacements under warranty. Pretty nice with the deadblow shot, it hits "hard".

One can use it for anything a hammer can be used for I found it useful on chassis work driving out various bolts in semi-tight quarters of wheel wells.

I had the Blue Point version of that hammer -- it was my favorite for many years and i did everything with it. Until as matt_i noted, it got gummy and started disintegrating. Mine lasted about 25 years, and as it wasn't Snap-on, it wasn't warranted. I have one of the modern Snap-on ones now, and Trusty Cook and some others, too. But none of them are as nice as that old Blue Point.

I'd love to have a new one. Wouldn't pay a nickel for a vintage one as it's sure to go or be going bad.

For hand tools, the Blue Point and Snap On warranties are identical!

I too had an orange hammer that crumbled to dust sitting in a drawer.

Those old style hammers usually always fall apart. But snap on has no problem sending a new one to replace it.

It kind of looks like that hand me down Snap on dead blow that I have. It's by far the most durable dead blow hammer I have.
