I have been looking for a good bench grinder for my shop, I found this one but the model is not listed. Does anybody know what model this one is and if it is not in good condition if it would be serviceable. Any input is welcome

How much are they asking for it? I'd certainly take a chance on it. Baldor makes extremely good motors.

Can't quite read the legend plate from the pics but that should give you model # and other pertinent info. Baldors are a very good quality brand pretty much across the board. Of course some models are higher end than others and condition will vary according to how hard a life it's had. They are rebuildable to a degree depending on whats wrong with them. By that I mean If it runs more than likely the major electrical components are probably ok. If it runs rough it's gonna need bearings which is not a big deal. If it doesn't run it could be something quite in-expensive like a switch or the cord.If it smells burnt keep looking because it's gonna get expensive. If it runs its worth at least $50, how much more than that is up to you. Look on ebay to compare but make sure you look at the sold listings to see what they are really selling for. Hope that helps:beer: p.s. They tend to sell fairly quick

Looks like a 7" Baldor ?? I'd grab it if the price is reasonable. No import grinder will run as quiet and smooth.

Its very serviceable as long as the windings are ok.

As long as it is not 3 phase (which most do not have), you should be fine. Should be easy enough to test out. 7' 1/2 hp start at about $450+ new.

I just grabbed a 1/3 hp for $20. The wheels were so wobbly I thought it was going to explode.

For parts and the stand it was a good deal. If the arbor is good all the better. Just saying it is possible to find a beat baldor.

UPDATE: I think the arbor is fine, I think the issue is with the flanges as they are pretty thin. The base has a huge chunk missing so it will probably still be parted out unless I can find a cheap replacement. I do like the chinese stand... heavy cast iron must be an older import.

I have its twin--#622R. Mine runs well but it looks like Baldor's paint process wasn't as good as it should have been when these were turned out.

Nice, pretty complete and would clean up nice if desired.
I Think it's the cast aluminum they used on these is harder for paint to stick but yeah, it's really no excuse. I have a cast iron 1/3 hp and the paint is almost perfect still.
