I put these on last summer. Got them at Home Depot. Seem to work very well so far. Will see how they do with the fine polen and stuff from the spring trees. Very easy to install and pretty cheap. Comes in 3" sections, slides under the shingles and snaps onto the gutter. If I have a chance I will try to get a picture of them installed this weekend. The picture is kind of deceiving, it they have a very fine mesh screen attached to the underside.

Those home depot ones worked horribly on my house. We have a lot of trees overhead and get a lot of leaves and pine needles. They lasted maybe two weeks before the water started running over the leaves on them and right off the house.

I had them up less than a year and they got completely full of leaves and needles. It looked like one of those new hats that has hair sticking straight up. I pulled them off about a week ago.

I was going to ask the same question. I don't have any needles, just regular leave. Most of the leave guards that I've seen are plastic. I gotta think that 18 months later you'll be picking plastic debris out of your gutters, but maybe I'm wrong.

I have used the Hallett Gutter Cover on my house and garage for three years. I had the pictured plastic covers from HD on for about two years. Maple seeds plugged the holes and were impossible to clean out, terrible product I.M.O. The Hallett Gutter Covers are more expensive and a little more work to install but work flawlessly.

I installed about 20-lineal feet of a gutter guard I bought at Menards about 6-months ago as a test. I put it over a gutter that I normally have to clean out every couple of months.

It seems to be working quite well.

It's a white plastic guard that has a cloth mesh over the top of the normal slits so that even small debris cannot make it in. Menards doesn't have much of a website, but I was able to find a similar product (except my screen is cloth not stainless mesh) Here:

So far, I'd say it's working very well. I'm going to install it on my garage this summer.

I had water entering the foundation so I upgraded to 5" wide gutters with 4" down spouts. Went with gutter guards that are perforated aluminum plates after reading tons of reviews, forget the name though. All the leaves, pine needles just lay on top of them so yea, the gutter never clogs up. The water never gets to the gutter. So I clean the leaf guards every month, especially during the spring. My old 4" gutters with wire covers worked much better, just couldn't keep up during a hard downpour. The aluminum plate guards cost was in the middle of the pack if I remember correctly.
