American Made Locking Pliers

I remember a year or two ago there was a big buzz in the tool world about locking pliers (otherwise known as vise grips) being made in the USA again. However, since then I haven't heard much news or seen anything on the tool forums. Anybody know something I don't? Just looking for more information.

Malco bought the dewit Nebraska plant. It is taking longer than originally planned to bring them to production.

I recently got these below...

Not USA made, but supposedly better than the current Vise Grip ones w rubber dip on them.

Note the knurled (original old style like) NOT straight slot cut on knobs.

Generally there are good options outside of made in USA, Grip on (Spain) and Knipex (made in Germany) come to mind.

I'd say buy good used Petersen ones in the mean time.

Thanks guys for the replies. Guess I’ll have to keep my head up and wait for an update from Malco. I got an older craftsman set and a few newer Milwaukee’s. Just like stuff made in USA.
