So i have been waiting for Milwaukie to release a m18 mid torque impact wrench like the M12 stubby. I want more power but small size. I currently use the aircat mid torque 1055-th stubby, which is air pneumatics.

I know there's m18 mid torque one, but its too big

Anybody know if M18 stubby is coming soon??

There have been rumors of a brother for the stubby. It makes sense that it would be an M18 but I wonder how much smaller it can be vs. the mid. The M18 battery is the biggest driver of size between the two. Here's mine:

I have a bunch of pix in this thread. With the 1/2" anvil and an XC 6.0 battery, the M12 Stubby does a great job

M635, I do think just the connection aspect/battery profile , will still also determine what i the -fattest/widest part- if a M18 stubby was to be release

Agree. I guess for me the question will be what would an M18 Stubby do that the M18 Mid won't? The answer there will be determined almost exclusively by size. There are definitely places the M12 Stubby goes that the Mid won't, but it's not a giant complaint on the whole.

Not knowing what the specs are but assuming they're in the neighborhood of the Mid (let's call it 450 nut-busting and 300 fastening vs. the mid at 600/450), it might make a great all-around choice, though an XC 6.0 battery (and bigger)
is going to make an M18 stubby a bit heavy and a bit unbalanced (though weight low is better than weight high IMHO). It would be a good thing for someone who is standardized on the M18 platform and wanted one tool, but personally I would still prefer the Stubby/Mid combo over that.

I don't think we'll see one since they will have to accept the M18 battery which is bulk/wide. I think we'll see improvements in the M12 stubby performance before we see an M18 stubby.

Perhaps the M18 fuel compact 3/8 & 1/2 guns could be updated, but I dont see them getting too much more power over what they have 200-250 ft lbs. In the M18 platform I dont see them getting that much smaller than those compact models. Maybe more in the future with advanced technology at a beneficial cost vs price.

I would not worry about the front profile if they did, as the M18 surge with a compact 2.0 pack is more usable in spaces than the M12 surge with an XC pack.

I've got all 3 as well M635 impacts as well. Ha, I'm currently have same/similar internal debate - but this is more debating between the M12/M18 Pro Press tooling. Each does same and different things. I want the middle ground - ahem, where it does everything the M18 and M12 does on that particular tool.....
