Today I received my Sears/Citi Refund Check.

Even not using my account for some time, it appears to have gotten no exciting freecash at all.

It doesn’t even feel like they miss me at all.....

And now all those customers are converting to another brand I being one of them. I was raised on craftsman only thing mom would buy me my dad and my brother. But sears started not caring so i have moved on along with thousands of others. So Eddie is paying the price now. Its just sad that so many loyal employees of sears had to pay that price also.

I chatted about my shipping refund, and apparently the first guy a week ago didn't submit it properly (I never got an email saying the refund was coming); this guy did it right and I got the email immediately. So hopefully that will actually get refunded this week. But the really good news is, somehow in the process of that, he refunded the entire order instead of just the shipping. So I got the $25 in points back that I spent on the item! So now I'm going to see if there's anything still worth buying in my store's tools dept.

Yeah, I was reluctant to deal with the online shipping refund situation again so I just picked stuff from the dregs of the local tool selection. There were a couple things I'd hoped would still be there now that I could afford them but of course they were gone (a gear puller, and a Craftsman bucket - I already have a Craftsman bucket so it wasn't a huge priority, oh well). I did get a nice leather tool pouch, two huge hex keys, another pack of scraper blades, and a spare shopvac crevice tool, all for no OOP. And because I forgot exactly how many points I still had and there's no WiFi at the store anymore, I ended up still having another couple dollars left.

I don't think anybody reading here is still using the SYWR credit card, but just in case, someone on SD said today that their credit card mysteriously stopped giving them the 1%-or-often-higher back in SYW points for their spending, as of a week and a half ago. Sounds like some kind of breakdown between Citi and SYW, that neither wants to take responsibility for.

I still use the SYW card somewhat, I get periodic mailers and bonus points if you activate them. Problem is I really don’t use the thing at any affiliates because I don’t live near much of anything don’t go anywhere it qualifies so I really only use it for online Sears purchases. I usually alternate it with the blue Sears card because that’ll randomly send you an offer too. The blue one usually gives better in store deals like free financing or a percentage off.

I’d actually have to make an effort to see if it’s still giving for non Sears purchases. It was still giving points for Sears purchases as of when I last used it a few weeks ago.

Oh, that's a nice one! I haven't gotten any low-OOP FC offers like that in a long time, other than the now-dead app trick. I go to https://www.shopyourway.com/freecash to see my current FC offers (currently zilch, but had just been junk like $80 off $1300 or something like that, for the last few months). When placing an order for FC-eligible items, the button you press during checkout to apply your points lets you apply a greater amount of points than you actually have (in your case, $10 higher), and there's a small link buried somewhere on the page that shows which offers are being used to give you that many points to spend.

Today about 12 noon I received a text from Sears that I still hadn’t used my $5 off $15 for installing the Sears app (~2+ years ago). I went back about 15 minutes later and I can’t find it there. So I don’t know what happened. I never opened the text, just saw the notification on the phone.

Back when I could get that offer a couple times a month, I would regularly get a notification (push notification from the Sears app, rather than an actual text) reminding me to use it a few days after I had already used it that time. Longstanding glitch, though it's new for it to remind you YEARS after your last use, lol. I have not received any such notifications or texts today, only the ones about tonight's Midnight Madness 5% sale.

Still no shipping refund from that order a couple weeks ago, so I chatted again this afternoon for the third attempt at a refund. Rep #3 claims she really really got it done right this time, we'll see. In the convoluted process, it messed up my points, so she added some back and I ended up with a few dollars more than I started with. With that plus my past week's earnings, I had enough to get a couple more items from the dregs of my closing store today. One week remaining (moved up by two weeks from the original plan).

Some of you may have already heard of it but I simply watch videos and do surveys and get $5 & $10 Walmart gift cards.

So if anyone who is like me and lost the ability to do SYW efficiently but could use a similar program, I could hook you up with a referral code and tips.

I thought it probably would barely pay but I probably got like $40 so far in Household Essentials/Pet/Food and funny enough the gift cards stack with cashback sites/receipt apps so free on top of free lol.

Since the SYW seems to be loading faster the last two weeks. I’ve gone back to my old standby which was e-rewards surveys which I’ve been doing since the early 2000s. Unless they’ve changed they are an invite only panel but since they’re offering Best Buy gift cards I started doing them again. I’m fast at doing surveys and in the target demographic for a lot of them so I can get like a $50 gift card every week or two. Their affiliates change all the time like constantly so sometimes it’s worth doing and sometimes not (I suppose you could hold the rewards currency if affiliates change). Unlike SYW since affiliates change there isn’t the same element of get such and such tool or item but you can also just hoard the erewards currency. I’ve gotten free magazine subscriptions, Wall Street journal, I used to use it for borders gift cards for movies, iTunes gift cards, etc.

Someone said on SD a few days ago that they've started seeing some of their SYW credit card bonuses that they had expected to receive as SYW points, show up as automatic credits on their next statement instead. I'd been waiting to see if anyone else would reply about that, but nothing else yet. I'm guessing that the other guy a week or two ago who said he had stopped receiving some expected points is going to see them show up on his next CC statement instead.

Yeah, my problem was I insisted on real money back since I was trying to minimize OOP. (The order that started all this would've been completely covered by points if not for the supposed-to-be-refunded shipping fee.) I came out ahead with points from their mixed-up attempts already, so I'm not going to bug them again about the last two cents. I definitely think it's easier to get points out of their system than real money.
