Wow, every rich man is a business owner, what do you do? If I may ask. Nice and thanks for sharing.

You're very welcome and thanks for looking.

You are correct - a business owner, not a sports figure, nor MC racer (I wish) or a musician. I graduated college (engineering) in the late 70's and started my own business in the late 80's.

I have been very fortunate to have had a wonderful mix of good parenting = good values, good education, living in a great country, luck, lots of very hard work and some good ideas along the way. Did I mention luck?

motodavid2000 - Thanks for including your "Alaska Solo Ride Report" in your last posting, visiting Alaska and doing something similar has long been a dream of mine, albeit more likely on 4 wheels rather and 2. Every member of my family has been to Alaska, including my Grandmother when she was still alive - so it is destiny for me to go.

R1chy

EDIT - Notice you removed it from your recent posting, too bad it was a great read and while not garage related, I'm sure there are others in this forum would enjoy your adventure. That said, I believe the author of "The Bunker" thread also discovered the hazards of sharing too much personal info and I don't blame him and regretfully now also you for limiting your exposure.

I saw him in a movie....he's in the olive oil business, the family eventually moved to Nevada and one brother died in an unfortunate boating accident

So is this how misinformation & rumors are propagated? :headscrat Wow - not sure how you reached those conclusions. I don't have any brothers, have never lived in Nevada, have never been in a movie, nor have anything to do with olive oil. :lol_hitti

Now back to your regular scheduled programming -- garage stuff !!

Wow, what an incredible garage and assortment of automobiles and bikes. Is this garage in Florida or Ohio, my guess is Florida, if Ohio what parts(Central/North/etc)? I am near New Albany.

Just in case you didn't notice, he has deleted all posts that contained any personal information. I seriously doubt he is going to tell you where he is located and honestly I can't blame him.

That was maybe a reference to the movie 'The Godfather?'

Great setup! I am a bit disappointed that there isn't an Audi R8 TDI sitting in there. Not that the rest of the collection isn't impressive enough. I would just prefer to the R8 to all those combined.

Ok, now I'll go back to my Passat Wagon. :p

As I understand it, the R8 is built on essentially the same chassis as the Gallardo. The Gallardo is a V10, while the "regular" R8 is, well a V8. Personally, I like the Lambo's looks better. Just can't get used to the "slash" down the flanks of the R8. I also like the 6 speed gearbox vs. paddle shifters. Old school.

I believe that Audi now has a V10 powerplant in the R8 5.2L. The edgier body of the Gallardo to me is more appealing. Both the R8 and the Gallardo are all-wheel drive. A big plus with 500+ bhp.

Dave, thanks for posting on here, your set up is great. I love your GT. Some friends of mine own this one, and it has to be one of my favorites out of all their cars.

Curt -

Thanks for the compliment and for posting your friend's garage and the Gulf Ford GT. The Gulf should hold its value very well and is a very "historic" paint scheme. I also see a black Ferrari on the left - a 360 perhaps?

Like your friend, I have owned a pile of Corvettes over the years. My favorite, and sorry that I sold it, was a pristine 100% original 1967 roadster with the 327cid, 300 bhp 4 speed trans. White exterior, red interior and black top....

I also had a 1968 / 427 coupe that I did a ground up on, another one that I wish I still had. Oh well, cannot keep all of them, nor own all of the great cars out there. In large part why I enjoy websites like this! :bounce:

It looks like sometimes they may not get the driving they need, you know with you having so many and all. So if you ever need someone to drive one or 2 let me know.

Nice eye, though it is a 430. :)

Curt -

Thanks for the pic of the F430 - better than a 360!! I must say that I do have a weak spot for the Italian stuff - motos and cars. Is this entire garage in the pic your friend's collection, or a showroom or other?

Does your friend have any motos?

Dave

It is his and his dad's collection. They do have it set up to show to local clubs and the like. Really nice family.
They have a few bikes, though I don't know if I took any pictures of them.
There's the bike to the right in this pic of the Allard, you might know what it is, i'm not very knowledgeable with those things.

The 935 is another of my favorites. An old scooter to the left as well.

Thank you for stimulating the economy!!

DzNuts -

Thanks man, I really AM trying! The dealerships that I patronize and the U.S.-based insurance companies I use really like me (uh, well at least the business I bring).

Now I just have to keep the Feds at arms length so that I can continue to contribute to the free-market economy, and not more to the Federal government's "bottomless pit" hunger for more taxpayer dollars. My opinion is that "new" tax dollars would be better used to buy market-based goods and services.

I can guarantee you that my local Dodge dealer wants me to spend a portion of my disposable income at his dealership instead of paying more in taxes. I have to agree with him.

Sorry - "nuff said.

I'd love to see some detail shots of your collectibles, cans and such. Its as fun to look at someones "junk" as it is too see the cars in their collection sometimes.

justinmc -

Here are few other shots for you that I found in my files after I had some time to look through all of my photos. Enjoy.

Beautiful garage, and very envious of all of it.

I don't recall seeing an answer to another members question about the floor. The floor is beautiful, is it just VCT tile waxed, or does it have a clear over it? If so, what brand? Thanks for opening up your showroom to share with everyone here.

I just need to find a career where I can work my way up to the level you are at. What kind of business did you start? Manufacturing? Consulting?

Thank you for the nice compliment. The floor is VCT that is waxed & buffed, with no clearcoat. Honestly, I do not remember the brand of tile. I think that I have a few boxes of tile still in the equipment shed or the main garage. If I remember I will try to find the manufacturer.

My house in Florida has a 4 car garage that has an epoxy floor that I really like also, but a pattern is much tougher to accomplish with epoxy.

With respect to your career / business question & for what it's worth, I will just say that I am in a technical field in energy. My [unsolicited] advice to people with respect to careers, is do what you really enjoy. Your passion will show through and drive you to be the best in your field.

This is a bit off-topic, but you might also join a local business roundtable and work on a B2B service(s). Businesses are spending now, the general consumer is not (i.e. - in my opinion retail is not the place to be). Interestingly, one of the most financially successful people I know manufactures cardboard boxes, but he is darned good at it.

Sometimes mundane + quantity + efficiency = profit.

WOW! It is hard to believe that the floor is just waxed and buffed. How often do you have to re-wax it? I can't imagine it would be that often if you aren't doing a lot of moving around or grungy stuff there. Oh, you don't need to find out the mfg of the tile. I was just wondering what brand clear coat, if any, was used and how it held up.

You have good taste in cars. I would personally trade one of the Lambo's for an Aston Martin, and one of the Vipers for a Nissan Skyline. I like a nice spread! But, I understand that once you find your car of choice you just want a few of them. My friend's Uncle has two vipers and a viper pick-up. I understand the attraction.

Thanks for the career advice. It is always nice to get some pointers from someone who is successful. I just need to find something that I like to do that isn't a hobby. I haven't been around to long (only 23), but I have learned that I don't want to mix a hobby with business because then it isn't a hobby and won't be too enjoyable anymore.

Well, starting your own business is definately the way to go if you have a marketable trait/service.

Thanks for all the info, and welcome to the Garage Journal. I am sure you will fit right in and learn a lot. Also, don't mind all the talk about you being "rich". I just hope that you don't take offence to it. Everytime I read such comments they do come across as a little rude or with a tone to them. That is usually not the case. From what I have learned here everyone understands that you earned what you have and most likely deserve it, but that is just too much to type out. I just don't want you to get the wrong idea about those kind of comments. They can have a tendancy to make a person shy away and not want to participate in the discussion.

Have a good one,

Greg

Thanks for looking. I have been collecting oil & gas "stuff" for around 10 years or so. As far as "collecting" cars, I have owned many over the years, but the "oldest" in the garage now is a 1997 Viper GTS that I bought new in 1997.

I regret selling a 1967 Corvette roadster 327cid/300bhp / 4 speed, white, red interior and black top. It was all original. The other one I regret not keeping is a 1968 Corvette coupe 427 cid / 4 speed that I did a body off resto on. Life is so short and there are so many great cars and motos !!

Awesome garage, beautiful collection, and thanks for sharing. Only thing I would change would be swapping one of the lambos or vipers for a Ferrari.

Awesome thread
Be glad you are not in Canada, government automatically gets 55% of my income direct in taxes plus additional % to Canada pension, Employment insurance (which they will never allow me to collect) and a couple other small grabs. We need a revolution up here!

Thanks for the comments and info. I love to fish in your beautiful country and I have always had a warm welcome from every Canadian I have dealt with. I have toured the Maritimes (Newfoundland, Nova Scotia & Labrador), BC, Quebec and Ontario by motorcycle and fished in Ontario and NWT.

Anyway, fully understood about your need for a revolution. We are needing a second one here in the US.

Z06Joe -

Thank you for the nice compliment - sincerely appreciated. I started in August 1978 with a new BS degree from Purdue, a wife of one year, a 1970 GMC Jimmy and $800 in my pocket. The rest is history with lots of intervening blood, sweat & tears between 1978 and 2010. We have our issues, but this is still a great country.
