Hey Guys,

Looking to floor my garage with Racedeck tiles. I've used the product before and have no issues with it.

Consequently, has anybody used their miter saw to cut the plastic tiles?

My saw isn't sliding (12" single bevel).

If you've used a chop saw on Racedeck tiles please share your experiences!
(type of blade, technique for getting a clean 12" cut, etc.).

Thanks Much!

I haven't done it. However, you'll want minimum 60 teeth and use blade cleaning fluid to keep the plastic from melting onto the teeth.

Go slow and let the saw come to a stop before moving the pieces you've cut.

What many do is a table saw with a fine tooth blade and cut the tiles upside down to eliminate burrs on top surface of RaceDeck

Table saw works really well. I used a laminate cutting blade

You aren't going to be cutting a 12" tile with a non sliding miter saw, unless you cut every piece twice.

I would use a table saw and a sled or a handheld circular saw

Hence, why I included in parentheses "cutting technique"...

You could set a stop, make a cut and flip each. Or just line the blade up with the first cut after flipping, but if you have a table saw, it will definitely be faster, especially on repeat cuts.

A sled wouldn't even be necessary if the tiles slide on the table

Cool, and thanks.

This is the blade I use on my miter saw to cut the Racedeck tiles:

CRAFTSMAN-10-in-180-Tooth-High-Speed-Steel-Miter-Table-Saw-Blade-Set/1000593757

I picked it up at Lowe's a few weeks ago. Sorry I can't post the link since I haven't the minimum of 5 posts yet in order to do so.

I used my hand held circular saw with a plywood/panelling blade. Go slow and cut the tiles topside down. Any burrs are easily removed by rubbing your hand over the edge. May need a leather glove. Dave R.

I put a carbide skill saw blade on backwards for cutting plastic. Go slow. Less chippy cuts.

I had no issue with chipping when I cut mine. The RaceDeck will melt slightly and make little "boogers" that stick lightly to the tile. CJDave.

I used my table saw and a plywood blade which worked really good. I tried a 12 inch sliding miter saw and it worked fairly well, but the table saw was a much better tool to use. If you have a table saw, or if you can borrow one from a friend, I would highly recommend doing it that way. It will make things a lot simpler for you.

I used a circular saw with the standard blade and it works great. Just very messy.

^This. I fist flipped the blade over so it was backwards but it melted the plastic. So I flipped it back and it cut the tile just fine. it left a bit of a burr but I just scraped the edge against the driveway and it came right off.
(I used garagedeck tiles not racedeck but I'm nearly certain that they're the same material and thickness)

Are they the freeflow tiles or solid tiles?

I have read some people used an actual tile cutter.

I used a cordless circular saw to make the straight cuts when I needed to cut the tile in half. All other cuts were made with a cordless jigsaw with a fine tooth blade. Any burrs that were left, were quickly removed by running a knife edge sideways over the cut.
