The best portable/rechargeable work light isn't a work light?

I've had a bunch of work lights and have never been happy with any of them. Most of them are bright, but the light is too focused so it doesn't really light the whole job area. Also the light stands typically aren't adjustable enough to point the light exactly where I want it. I also don't like that you have to wait a long time for the battery to recharge before you can use it when the battery dies.

My new "work light" is actually a photo/video light and it is awesome in my opinion (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C9ZNY17/?tag=atomicindus08-20)

The main thing that's great about it is the light dispersion is amazing -- it's like a wall of light and covers the whole area. It's also very bright (1070 lumen and dimmable), great battery life, clip-in replaceable batteries (so you can carry 2 and never be dead), can be run with plug-in 12v / 2a power supply, lightweight, very high quality, compact (3.6" x 6.6"), very high capacity (7600mah) batteries are available separately (2200mah is included), and highly adjustable by using any tripod (uses standard tripod mount).

The light color temperature is adjustable. It's optimal setting is 4400k -- it can go down to 3900k or up to 5600k -- but it is brightest at 4400k. I love the warmer 4400k light -- much more pleasant to work with, but if you like cool blue light (higher color temps) -- this probably isn't the light for you because it does get dimmer when you adjust it off of 4400k.

This mini tripod give you great flexibility with ball head, it's also a handle when closed (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D76RNLS/?tag=atomicindus08-20). There are TONS of clamp-on tripod mounts available, also fully adjustable. Of course, any tripod or camera mount you already have will work also.

This is the best "work light" I've owned by a very, very wide margin.

Interesting. Since it's photo quality it probably has better color rendering than a lot of work lights.

You can also get mag mounts.

This looks similar to the one Adam Savage used for his worklight build. He ran a flex arm made from cooling pipe (Locline) to get more adjustments.

Awesome idea. I've had a few desk lamps and hate them all. When I'm not using it for portable use, I'm going to use it with wired power as a desk lamp.

I took a old reading lamp out to the barn, worked great. floor stand model, stood about four feet tall with another 2 feet of flex wire and motorcycle style lamp head.

Well it's way cheaper than my rocket light but for something like a small room I bet it works great

A guy I follow, builds them from LED offroad lights mated to the USB adapters or other useless mounts for his Milwaukee and Dewalt battery systems. They are awesome as flood lights - similar concept to the photo light but waterproof and ruggedized - which is nice in a wet nasty crawlspace.

I got mine today, nice light! I searched around ebay and found a guy willing to deal.
I plan to use it with either a small or medium sized tripod to keep it mobile around the garage. I will probably get at least one more battery and look through my stash of power supplies.

Glad it worked out for you. I'm definitely loving mine. I had the Caterpillar work light from Costco before which is about the same size, but although the Cat light was kind of bright, it was impossible to aim with the prop up stand, the beam was too focused to light the area, the light color temp was pretty harsh, and battery life was pretty short. This photo light on the Manfrotto stand (tripod) I linked in post 1 trounces the Cat by a mile.

The Manfrotto stand has a circulating ball to aim it anywhere, and serves as a handle when legs are closed. It's very stong, but compact and light. If you are looking for a small stand, I couldn't recommend it more.

I've since added this battery --> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M189SS0/?tag=atomicindus08-20

It's 6600mah, has a built in power level indicator (activated by button), and has a USB port so you can also use it as a power bank to charge your phone or whatever on the job. It also has a DC output plug (6-8.4v), though I'm not sure what I would use that for. The 6600mah battery is larger in person than I thought it would be from looking at the pictures, so bear that in mind, but it is totally stable even with large battery attached when on the Manfrotto stand.

This light also works awesome as a desk light in my brief test. I'm probably going to buy another, can you PM me the link to the eBay seller?
