I got my garage ready for Christmas!

And yes I have an incredibly small garage. It's only 11' by 18' and somehow I manage to cram a motorcycle, small car, workbench, hot water heater, and all my tools and things. I had to kick my bicycle to the back yard.

Yup, that's my space for doing project. Currently entering the house market and insisting on at least a double garage.

Put the lateral bracing on my trusses. Got yelled at by my 14 yr old daughter when she came out and saw me crawling in between said trusses 22' in the air. Not sure when she turned into my mother

Realized the one set of outdoor outlets did not have a GFI plug, and one did not have a seaed box. Fixed that then installed a MyQ smart switch for the courtyard light so I can control it from the house and a motion sensing switch for the interior lights.

Nite and day difference

Took down florescent and incandescent fixtures in my one plus car garage And put up four Costco four ft led lights daisy chained together. Thought I might need more but once installed, the four lights look just perfect. Plenty of light for working/reading etc. and pleasant color.

Dismantled a couple of free desks for their drawers. I mount them under my work benches. Ignore the mess, I cant seem to reorganize without making a huge mess first.

Made in the metalshop last weekend a pair of mini jibs to hold some air filtration units for the woodshop. Got a chance to mount them yesterday. The dust collectors will work off a pulley system powered by a couple of small electric winches to be able to lower them to change filters.

It’s like clamps...you can never have enough! Yep it’s overkill but it’s a mix of plugs as there are single phase 120, 240 and three phase 240. While I have the shop layout roughly done I wanted the flexibility to move stuff around and not have to have exposed conduit. My electrician made it too affordable to not to have them.

in the process of "un christmasing" the exterior of the house and garage.. got all the high hanging stuff down, extension cords and timers. been trying to grab all the loose decorations from outside.

still have 2000 or so lights to unstake from the ground.

We spent hours going through tools and organzing the drawers. I went through and organized some snap-on wrenches by their date codes and sizes.

Growing up my grandfather had a huge 3 bay garage with lifts to work out of, a garage next to the house full of things he collected outside of cars, and a big garage between the work one and the house for our race cars, some early 30 ford coupes, a model-T, a 56 belair and his prized antique fire truck. You can never have enough room.

Oh man. Whenever I see shops on the forum with plywood/osb/metal walls and a bunch of outlets I always think to myself “man that guy has patience”. I don’t like cutting holes or have patience with sheetrock - I can not imagine trying the same with a solid substrate that isn’t as easy to patch/hide/paint. Love the idea - hate the thought of doing the work. [emoji481] Looking good Duker!

Love the plywood wall you got there. May I ask why the need for such wall?

Thanks! My thoughts as to adding the wall was to have some more wall space for storage ( wall cabinets & some Rousseau hardware cabinets ) and to keep the grinding dust etc away from the machine shop side which is on the other side of the wall. I hope it is worth it because it has been a giant PITA to get done!

Thank you! I am with you on hating the work as it is tedious and boring but I am getting a good upper body workout (which I needed) from swinging the plywood around. The only thing I think that I would have hated more was putting up drywall. At least the sawdust is manageable. I actually should have also said I have almost finished “one” side... I still have the other side to get done .... [emoji30]

Trimmed the bottom of the shelf under my pegboard that wasn't straight and painted the shelf and pegboard. Looks so much better now!

Installed a new remote and receiver for one of my door openers. I looked a little bit for a replacement remote but I don't think there is much support for ~40 year old receivers :)

Finally got my 60K BTU NG heater up and running this weekend. I've been relying on a NG space heater so far, but I don't run it all the time.

I added a Nest thermostat so I can control it remotely. I plan on keeping the building at about 50F.

So far it's running like a champ.

I found out a hard lesson about wearing nylon shorts around a space heater. I was working on the new furnace and standing near the space heater. I guess I got a little too close, and my pants melted onto my leg. It didn't burn me too bad, but I couldn't get those short off fast enough. :D

I'm still picking away at the great room/man cave I'm finishing at one end of the shop. Putting vintage barn tin on the 22' ceiling has proven to be a chore. Old barn tin is heavy; much heavier than what they sell today. It's also as crooked as a dog's hind leg, so I had to keep snapping lines to keep it half-*** straight. Looks like **** up close; just has a nice rustic look from 22' away.

Got the flat top part done, now I'm working my way down the two sloped sides, putting up insulation as I go. I also need to put up conduit and six pendant lights that will hang from the ceiling for area lighting. I made them out of galvanized funnels to maintain the farm vibe. Walls are going to be tongue and groove pine. I'm trying to plan everything out so that as I take down scaffold stages, I don't have to put them back up again.

Used my old simplex jack and leveled the back half of the garage project. Not bad for something that's been standing since the 1920's.
Middle was sagging pretty badly, hence the 4X4 wedge. Reset a corner post. More repairs coming.
Gotta make this a better place to keep my daily driver.

Bored and recovering from rotator cuff surgery, cleaning up work bench and found a tube with this in it. Had a friend here changing his oil so I put him to work. Little cabinet art. Second one I found last weekend at motorcycle show. My childhood hero.

Looks awesome! What size wood are you using for the bench?

I have a bunch or old 2x6’s kicking around I ripped them down on my table saw and just using a hand held planer and belt sander to smooth them out 727ee31fa9ded31d9f91dc01b2116f31.jpg

I finally got the old tin done on the ceiling. I wrestled two big beams in place to help brace the end wall, which was not built to code, and also because they look cool. 6X12 X16' long, rough-cut southern yellow pine. It's been too cold to work on it much, but a warm spell this week has me back at it. Next up will be framing in some windows. I made the pendant lights from galvanized funnels.

Those pendant lights are super cool! The rest of the place ain’t bad, either. Nice work.

Replaced the hinges on the front man door. The old hinges were exterior with removable pins and we're rusted pretty badly. So security risk and eyesore. I swapped them for some stainless security hinges.

Added a 24’x79’ driveway and two sidewalks. 31 yards of concrete - yea it was a long day.
