If you guys are referring to the decals (one on the top box, one on the roller) for the Staten Island dealership this stack came out of, I agree. Those made it very tempting. But the roller and the top box needed a lot of work, I'm not really looking for a stack, I'm not a Huot nut, and he wouldn't take my lowball.

I'm in CA now buy used to live on the Isle of Staten. If you see the box again please get the name of the dealer, I'd love to arrange shipping and own that stack

There's only 4 or 5 people on GJ who have one. I have the type that had the slide out trays instead of lift out like yours.

Nice one ZRX61, I'll definately be on the lookout for one of those.

Shadow, this wrench set is the best logo history I've found...

I passed on this Huot stack at the flea market this morning ($150), but I though I'd post the photos for posterity in case it helps with research, ID, etc. Or if anyone really wants it that badly, I could grab it tomorrow.

I'm in CA now buy used to live on the Isle of Staten. If you see the box again please get the name of the dealer, I'd love to arrange shipping and own that stack

I hope that works out for you PropMaker.
I found a smaller set similar to what I just posted above; same top box but a smaller two drawer roller. Someone had fancied it up with emblems from a Ford dealership on Staten Island (if I remember correctly). They also added a clock and a cigarette lighter inside the top box. The old knob kind like what used to come in a car. I wanted that super bad but it was in New Jersey and they would not ship.

Oh well. Later (this last weekend) I found the larger version above for less money and close enough that I could just drive over and pick it up. So I guess it all worked out, but that was a cool little set up and I loved the Ford dealer stickers and the lighter, etc. I guess I could do something similar to mine now but I don’t usually like making permanent alterations.

Nice one ZRX61, I'll definately be on the lookout for one of those.
Saw it inline, called the guy. Then called a friend who lived nearby (Fontana area). He met the guy a couple of days later & picked it up.
About 2 months later I meet him, pay for it & take it home.

A while later my ex B-i-L made an offer for it & like an idiot I sold it to him.

Three years later I get a beat up '50's Craftsman stack that he wants. We trade & I get the box back. Next day he trades the old Craftsman stack for an much newer one.

First time I paid $20 for it & sold it for more. I think it cost me the equivalent to $50 to get it back the second time.

That is a Beach B29. One like that would bring $25-50 around here. $150 for a new looking one.

Going to be looking at this tomorrow, any thoughts on value? Looks complete, I’m guessing it’s the three drawers and open shelf.

If someone can ID the model that’d be great to!! No idea what they’re asking.

+1 on 75-100 bucks. That chest dates from 45-48 and managed to hide from the mad spray bomber that got so many of those boxes.

Yup-looks pretty good.. I’d buy that at $75-$100 all day.. looks like some light rust on the bottom.. I love those boxes.. in have two..

Also just picked up this Craftsman pair yesterday.. the ten-draw top boxes aren’t easy to find, I sold the last two and I think I’ll keep this one for a restoration....

That's an interesting stack hemifalcon. First time I've seen what appears to be the older gray crinkle paint on a 10d chest. Is there a date code behind the logo? Every other one I've seen has the later hammered paint on it. Man I'd love to know the story behind all those handles being removed. EDIT: I guess the question I should be asking is, IS that the older gray crinkle paint on the 10d? May just be losing something in the pic. If it is that really has me scratching my head and would be a very unique chest.

Just got it for $10!

Looks like it will need some love to get the center drawer in, looks like the rail was a bit bent.

Photos to come! Can someone tell me the proper way to release the drawers?

+1 on the you ****. Great score! Is the front cover present? I haven't gotten around to pulling drawers from any of my boxes from that area but looking at the slide I'm assuming you're going to have to grind down a hack saw blade to push into the space between the two pieces to release the catch. Looking forward to seeing more pics. Congrats.

The hanging hooks from a pendaflex type file folder works well for Snap-on boxes.

Hi all,

I picked up this Craftsman Commercial 65141 toolbox recently. I’m kind of worried it’s not that old because the condition is amazing.

Does anyone know when these where in production ?

Cheers

Ben

Check post #9758 in this thread. Apparently made in the early ‘70s according to Rileysan. Here is mine found in 2016 at a garage sale in equally nice condition.

Found this one today for sale from the original owner's son. These are heavy duty and other than paint issues, it is in great shape. I haven't decided if I will redo this one or just leave it alone. Also shown is the catalog snip from a Craftsman box brochure I found in a 1968 gray and red chevron Craftsman logo box. I will cross post over on the crown logo thread.

Here we go! I tried to take photos of the whole thing and of the slides and the drawer.

I almost feel like the drawers aren't in order, the space under the top before the first drawer seems odd. What is in the photo is what I have so no "door" for the front or anything like that....was there something originally covering the opening in the bottom?

I am not sure if your drawers are out of order or you are missing something. Here is mine...

I think the full-front drawer cover slides into that slot. Check the Craftsman Heritage thread to find one or two. Or, for an older example, I think the first page of the Long C thread there is the model just before this (the same, just different badge.)

faulty, you're missing the dust cover which would fold against itself and store in that space above the first drawer. They were full coverage from 45-52 then went to the lower half only in 53 like the one OTG is showing. For 10 bucks you still got a helluva you **** deal. How did you end up releasing the drawer slides? I've got to get around to that on a few chests one of these days. EDIT: Edited to correct my brain fart date changes. That's what I generally get for pulling dates off the top of my head.

Definitely not going to find that cover in my lifetime. However, it seems the logo for my cabinet is on a different drawer than yours....interesting.

Any information on this cabinet, found it semi local and may pick it up to add to my stack (although the colors worn match).

Thoughts on condition, value and era?

Through the generosity of another GJ member I acquired this fairly solid old SK hip roof tool box. I have a friend who is an old school bump & paint body man that says he will try to bang the dings out of it for me.

I'm wondering if there is a known source for the hardware on these old boxes. Anyone? I'm new to tool box restoration. But I think I can handle the hardware and paint if someone can do the tin knocking.

It's a nice looking box with that blood red. Would you say that's a Waterloo mfd. box?

AMD manufactured, and they later became Remline. If you look on the inside back of where the badge used to be, it should say AMD and list a date of manufacture. Though I believe that was the last year of that style box (and first year of crowntop era) so '58. I have the lower cabinet for it.

BMW is spot on. I have a Crown 10d dated 59, the only year it shows that logo on that box in the catalogs. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some 58s out there with Crown logo on it as well. All said, the Crown 10ds would be much more scarce than the Heritage 10ds. Nice find!
