I was in my Ollies store two days ago and I saw no craftsman hand tools although I saw a few Craftsman Weedeaters. Wife noticed Fiskars garden pruning tools though

I'll have to check out the local Ollie's. Last time I was there I bought some USA screwdrivers but no USA pliers.

Ours had 3 piece pliers, a bit screwdriver, a screwdriver set, and some individual screwdrivers that were USA made.

hmm... I may have to check out local Ollie's. I do not need pliers (have several Knipex), and probably should save some cash, but I like to have some US made pliers just because...

Where do you get the % coupons for Ollie's?

Get on their mailing/email list. They don't spam you too bad, maybe once a week you get a email from them and every/every other month a postcard is sent to your mailbox.

I went to my Ollie's today and noticed the same Craftsman stuff, although I didn't need any of it. I picked up some German made Troy Bilt pruning scissor things that seem very nice for $8 each.

What are the prices on the craftsman pliers and similar? Thanks!

I think it is YMMV. I went to local store this afternoon. They have metric and SAE socket sets but they are all made in China. The 3 piece pliers set US made is $29.99. I also see some plastic clamps sets but no price. I did not see anything else that I really want to buy.

Yep. The pliers were $30 and seemed very expensive considering what they were. The sockets were also way too expensive considering they were Chinese. The screwdrivers were okay in high school 25 years ago, but nothing I need now!

This was all my local store had left. They told me they got everything from Advanced Auto.96a2ed2f77f4edbcb69870298331178d.jpg

Was going to stop this evening but Im out at $30 for the pliers. Not worth that at all. I was hoping for $10-15....

Bought the plastic clamps when I bought the screw drivers but I cant remember what I paid.

Same here, was hoping for $5 per piece (I know I am cheap), so $15 per set sounds reasonable to me. The set of 3 in my store is the same as in the picture in @jonathan75 post above.

This is what I don’t get about today’s “Discount” stores, and throwing swap meets and garage sales here in SoCal in that lot as well. Everyone wants full blown retail for everything regardless of condition or not being a current model etc.

As the Hot Deals section demonstrates, the cheapest time to buy something is when the main big box store still has it, either on clearance or a normal sale with coupon stacking etc. Additionally you still get the full manufacturer’s warranty, a generous return policy, and an item in perfect new condition generally.

For the above tools, they were cheaper than this price at Sears virtually all last year when they still had them, as well as at Ace Hardware during their yearly 50% off coupon. Then the discount store gets them and back to full MSRP they go.

Wonder if it was part of the agreement in regards to the Diehard purchase then.

Absolutely. Information = power.

Lots of people think they are getting a great deals, like when Sears are closing and everything are 20% 30% discounted, but they did not know that you can get them cheaper online.

Yeah, that's too much for those sets. For a few dollars more you can get Channellock pliers and get a warranty that will get you a USA tool in return.

I agree most were overpriced, which is why I cherry picked a few items.

also assumed most people had or get the 15-20% off total purchase coupons which made some of them a decent deal.

I thought the pliers and full screwdriver sets were expensive but if someone was looking to fill out a set or gift for next year's SS, maybe not a bad deal.

I remember when the 5pc plier sets were $20 on sale regularly at Sears, and those screwdriver sets were similar if not less.

OTOH, try buying a new single Craftsman screwdriver at the flea market, even Good Will wants $2 ea for used, LOL.

I think the sparkle to this deal is if you find made in USA products. I ain't running out to grab a pair of non-warrantied Chinese **** (ok, maybe you can be taken care of at Lowe's). I'll just wait until I actually need the tool, and buy from HF.
