Hello friends! My husband has a birthday soon. He always delves into the garage, I want to please him with some useful and high-quality tool, but I don’t understand anything about it. Please recommend something, I will be grateful for any idea!

Our house has a backyard, garden, garage.

Welcome to GJ.
What sort of work does he do in the garage? it will make a difference of tools used.
is he into woodworking, metal fabricating or?
what does he have in the way of tools. has he mentioned anything that he really would like?

If he doesn't already have one, a good quality vice is a valuable addition to anyone's tool kit.

I’d go for a Nepros Urushi ratchet.

Hard to say since we have no idea what he already has...

If he doesn't have one already, a cordless impact driver is a game changer.

If he already has some cordless tools, make sure you get something that uses the same battery platform (brand) and same voltage (either 12 or 18 volt).

Red tools = Milwaukee or Skil, Yellow = DeWalt, Lime Green = Ryobi, Blue = Makita or Bosch, Black/Orange = Ridgid, Red/Grey = Porter Cable, Green/Black = Hitachi/Metabo

So, HERES a good question.... IS said husband already a member on this forum, which is how YOU found out about our little neck of the woods???? Hmmm??? Is your evil plan to hopefully bait said husband into unwittingly suggesting a gift for HIMSELF perhaps, as you you innocently play babe in the woods?? I hope so... I like this evil plot... ;)

This thread reminds me of my old roommate, who worked in an electrical supply house at the time. His favorite thing (sarcasm) was when someone came in and said "I need a light bulb".

Kind of a B R O A D statement wouldn't you say?

Without knowing what he likes to do, I'd recommend:

SO SSDMR4BO Ratcheting Screwdriver - Everyone loves them

Tool box or storage unit

Zebralight high end LED headlamp H600Fw

Ken Onion Knife and Tool sharpener

Klein Plier Set

Leatherman Multi Tool

I vote for one of three paths:
a) gift card from Amazon and he picks his own
b) make it a point to spend some time talking/hanging out with him next time he is in the garage. Which tools does he use the most, or which type of projects does he do the most? Splurge to upgrade one of the most common. If you don't know what it is take a picture and post it here - we can help.
c) spend some time with him in the shop and notice what would make the environment nicer. Anti-fatigue mats if your feet hurt, more lights if dark and dingy, some tunes if that is his thing, a new work stool if the old one is beat up, etc.

d) Ask his best friend (assuming that isn't you)

Don't ask.
With no other information I'm going to say a magnetic work light. Can never have too many. There are a lot of different styles and price ranges.

Sussie (OP) This is what I recommend...

Have a few nice drinks and wait by the side of a busy road in your area (be sure and bring along either cash, check book or credit cards) and after some time I am sure a tool truck in your area will drive by, (not Cornwell too much a unicorn). When you see one be sure and throw your body into the street to get their attention, (alcohol will help you get the strength). When they stop just throw at them all your cash/credit cards/ check book and do the dance, again alcohol helps.

I CAN BET YOU 100% YOU ARE GOING TO GET LUCKY WITH YOU MAN FOR A WHOLE WEEK!:thumbup::thumbup::bowdown:

I am not sure about your budget, but consider
Westling Socket Organizer set (depending on which drive sockets and metric/SAE or both you can pick and choose).
Koken ratchet (unless he uses only US made tools, this will be a useful rarity and conversation piece
Walker manual jack
...
So many ideas - tell us more about your budget, his garage and his projects and we will try to give you better ideas...

Since you don't really know what to get him and he likely would not want to hurt your feelings by returning it.

Go to your local Harbor Freight and pick up this Braun light. Its usually $39.99. He will definitely use it even if he already has one.

Several others beat you to it in more graphical terms.
Those posts have been deleted, and I’m sure Susie isn’t coming back.

This is really a hard question. I've only purchased 3 garage related gifts for my father. In general he knows what he wants. I mean how do you pick a tool for a guy who already has a CNC Bridgeport?

The 2.5 wins were a cordless drill, roto handle ratchets and a HF tool cart. In all cases I went into it knowing he might never used the tool.

The drill was a win. My dad had plenty of air drills but they all limit him to the shop. The cordless drill was clunky in comparison but worked anywhere. I knew it was a win when he replaced it with a better model after the batteries died (the original was a Craftsman Nicad drill).

The tool cart was nice as Dad put a set of fabrication tools that were used in around the shop in it.

The roto ratchets were harder. He already has a complete Snapon set. Still, he seems to like them.

The problem is none of those gifts were obvious absent spending a lot of time in the garage.

I like the suggestion above about something that makes the shop/garage a nicer place to spend time. A nice sounding radio/speaker/stereo for instance. Perhaps a shop computer with a dirt proof keyboard, large screen and nice speakers?
