Aluminum battery box

I've been needing something to clean up the battery area under the hood of the Tacoma so I made a few templates, cut some aluminum, and started welding. Here is the finished result. I think it fits in quite nicely under the hood with all the other polished aluminum goodies. Took about an hour to build. Please ignore all the dust, It's in need of a major cleanup day.

I don’t know if aluminum is the stuff to use around a battery.
Isn’t there a corrosion problem from the fumes?

Looks good but is it vented. I would imagine the battery and the engine will create alot of heat in that box.

Very nice! I would add some kind of Venting to the Box. Maybe in the front and rear sides. Then as you were moving it would naturally push air through the box.

The box is vented. There are 4 1" holes in the bottom and 2 holes in the side facing the driver's fender.

typo on my part. yes, i meant 2jz.

it's easy to identify by the valve covers and cam gear configuration.

No Supra needed. The engine was imported from Japan and came from an Aristo (the 4 door Supra).

What gauge plate did you use & with what did you weld it? TIG or MIG? I just got my Miller 211 & a spoolgun so I can weld alum. I have almost no experience welding alum. & want to learn all I can.

It's 90 thousandths thick and was TIG welded.
