Why do I have to login over and over???

I can log in to look at the site, then if I post I have to log in again, then when I submit, I have to log in again. I tried to edit one of my post tonight and couldn't do it. It told me to refresh the page and log in again. Each time I did, the "edit" that I had written in my post was cleared. Is this a setting on my cpu that I could check or this what I need to expect from now on?

Click remember me next time you logon to the forum and that should fix the problem.

Don't feel stupid. I had a similar problem when I joined here. All forums work differently.
