Snagged a few vises today to work on over the next few weeks. Reed 103, Samson 5224 and a Pony 24545
I have this little vacuum base Craftsman vise model 9-5174. These are U.S. made and were sold between 1969-79. I bought this one for $7.50 at an estate sale. The vacuum base still works, however its soft jaws are missing. I couldn't find an OEM code or patent number (just "PAT'D") on it, so does anybody know who made these?

Bob...those reeds look great, you’re gonna need more room.

Two good examples of "Type 2" early Stanleys. Type 2 = Stanley in raised letters on the left side and the model number on right side.
The Sweetheart logo can be used to get an approximate manufacture date. Here is the best explanation I have found:

I have a thing for those buggers and find them fairly often around here..

Here’s something you don’t see everyday. This is a Prentiss vise no. 162 it has 3 1/2” jaws, opens 4” and weighs in at 16 lbs. This was a through bench mounted vise. I can’t find another photo of a 162.

Mark, did you also hand him the front support?

My SIL restores vises, he sent me this picture today of a handle he made.
I told myself I wouldn't buy anymore vises, but then this Reed 106 was just 20 min from the house. Pulled fresh from a barn that was being demolished 2 days ago
