I re-did all the lighting in my (old carport) now enclosed garage. They previously had 3 switches inside the house. One controlled a small sconce, one controlled 4 can lights, and one controlled an outlet on the front like for Christmas lights.

Outlet is staying, I rewired the lines to have two plugs on the ceiling and I now have 6 LED shoplights. I WAS going to use the sconce line for another two lights since I bought 8. But it's bright in there, leading me to wonder...

what else can I put on the switch?

My wife suggested a fan since I have to swap out a fan inside anyways. The ceiling's not super high, maybe 10 feet.

What else would be cool to have on a switch?

The fan is a good idea, even on low speed is stirs air and helps prevent moisture collecting on surfaces = rust. One of the lowest cost methods.

It could be interlocked to your air compressor (enable/disable).

It could engage a set of "black lights" that impress your friends when you kill the normal lights.

If you're old enough to remember Al Bundy, you could wire the extra switch for the light in the dog house.:lol_hitti

Just think about this for a second... switch height outlet that you don't have to bend over for... for vacuuming and such...

I'm older... can't bend as easily as I once did.

I actually installed all outlets at 3 feet off the ground. I thought of that. I'm only 32 but still, work smarter

I'm gonna have a miter bench station at one wall, under the lights, and my workbench is going to be a mobile multipurpose table ( flip top, t track, etc,). I didn't think about stirring up dust which would be good to help with my air filtration unit. I wonder if I should put it facing the fan or the other way.

I'm leaning towards a fan bc I already have it. But I'll consider something really cool. Blacklights...sounds a bit weird to me haha

Don't ask.
Switches inside the house, really depends. Where do the wires go, is it just a switch loop?
Maybe a light above the driveway, or in the yard?

Outside lights? Switched outside outlets for Holiday lights?

I have one of those already. Also I have external lights on a separate switch. This switch is just on the other side of the door entering the garage. It is on the same circuit as my shop lights and two wall outlets if that matters

I have 6 outlets on the walls about 12 inches from the ceiling. This is setup so half each outlet is switched (top); other half is not (bottom). I did this with the idea of buying neon signs to hang. This way you can also used the non switched side for a TV up high.
