It has been around a long time. I'm sure it answers a need somewhere, but it is ridiculously expensive. For the price you could easily build yourself a 4x8 table.

Really cool, but still $2,500. I’ve been thinking about a carvewright, it is about the same price. Gives me a couple options at that range anyway.

The Shaper is expensive, but it is at least unique. The carvewright is highway robbery. It does nothing that a $300 Chinese CNC router can't do. It has the one benefit of being easy to make basic drawings. But it locks you into their system. They then charge you extra for more advanced features. Your stuck with them as it is proprietary software.

If you learn how to model and export to GCode you can literally use any CNC machine. It works the same on my router, my mill, my laser, and my 3d printer. There are tons of free programs that are out there that give you amazing capabilities. Proprietary systems are out there to drain you of your money.
