Ive had a Schumacher benchtop charger for almost 20 years - works great, automatic.....never let me down.

.....but I occasionally need more UUUMPH. It didnt have enough POWA so start my skid loader this winter.

Anyone have a suggestion for a wheeled unit....maybe with a 200a engine start or something.

Looks like from review on Amazon the Schumacher units got more computerized and perhaps less reliable?

Associated Equipment makes some nice made in the USA battery chargers. I have one of their bench top units. They have several larger wheeled models, like the Model ESS6008MSK, which has 60 amp charging and 270 amp crank assist, and a memory saver port. It also works as a 70 amp power supply. The meter on it is analog.

The Associated Intellimatic series are smart chargers, meaning they stage the charge process and drop to float when done. You can leave it connected indefinitely on float.

I'm all for an American built, heavy duty charger.

Would that be a commercial, service station model? Would a weekend DIYer use all those features?

Many of these larger models have a 'cranking' mode, which is handy. But the problem is some of them are timed or load-sensing, so that on a diesel, the mode will not persist through the glowplug/pre-heat cycle.

You may want to avoid these types if you have a diesel.
