Hi everyone,

I found this "older" 6 drawer toolbox on Facebook Marketplace. It has no markings other than the stamped letters "MODEL" in the bottom of the top compartment on the right hand side near the front of the box. There is also a depressed horizontal rectangle on the upper left side of the box where a possibly a sticker was located at some point.

The Box was in pretty miserable shape and I got it for $25.00. I took it home, disassembled it, cleaned it, sanded it, primed and painted it. I cleaned and lubricated the slides with white lithium grease and they work really well.

If anyone can help me identify a year and manufacturer, I would appreciate it. I THINK that it is a Rem Line, but I'm just not sure.

I have this same box. I also restored it though I didn't put too much time into it. I would also be curious who made it. It's not a bad little box, but I'd say it leans more towards light duty.

At first glance I thought it was Rem-Line made for Powr-Kraft. Upon closer inspection of the top of the chest it just doesn't look like a Rem-Line. There are no visible lid activated drawer locks on the sides of the top edge. or in the center for the top middle drawer. Either way it cleaned up nicely. Well done!

That makes two of us:) does yours have the handles on the side? Mine are missing and I need to find some replacements, but haven't had any luck locating any so far.

There is a "slot" in the back of all the middle drawers, a companion slot in the top tray of the box, and a tab at the bottom of the box so that if I slide a thin piece of bar down the hole and engage the tab, the drawers all lock in place with the exception of the two outboard upper drawers.

I have been reading, post by post, the comments in the, "The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!" thread. There are quite a few posts, but to my surprise, post no. 3682 on page 185 from a fellow by the name of KC77 in Lubbock, Texas revealed this tool box to be one fabricated by the Union Chest and Cabinet Corp. of LeRoy, New York for the Union Tool Corp in Orange, Massachusetts. Thank you to all of you that responded!!
