How to remove this broken compressor fitting?

The threaded fitting that connects the pressure gauge to the switch area on my CAT 5510se broke. See picture below.

I have an old chisel that is the right size to use as a large screwdriver but the threaded connector broke behind the face of the switch assembly and I can't get a Dremel attachment in there to grind slots. It's further back than it looks in the picture. I don't seem to have a file narrow enough to grind slots by hand.

I've removed the plastic switch housing in case I need to apply some heat but the rubber diaphragm that activates the pressure relief valve is right behind there so I'd like to avoid heat if possible

I'm probably going to need to venture out of self isolation today anyways so if somebody can recommend the right kind of extractor I can go pick one up.

Never mind. Took the rest of the switch apart, heated it up & hammered an old flathead in to spin it out.

Yeah I screwed up. If it was a normal day off I would have been willing to head out for correct tool. But with this Corona virus I decided it wasn't worth it.

Now I have a switch assembly that is a nightmare to put back together. I can get it all back together with the spring taught but can't keep it that way while lining things back up. Tried zip tying it together to hold it while I slipped it into place but no go.

Might just see if I can find an entire switch assembly.

I knew I was in trouble when pieces fell out. But i figured out fairly quickly how they worked together so thought I was home free. Oh no... Not so easy.

It's crazy. There are really only three parts that are a problem. But the fact that it basically needs to be done upside down to keep three other pieces in place while keeping a spring taught makes it a nightmare.

I have other portable comoressors but I do like this one. Hope I can get it sorted.

I have some thin galvanized wire. I'm going to try that. Good idea.

The Cobbler - took a short hike with the dog to set some frustration aside & got back at it. The thin wire I had worked where the zip ties didn't. I appreciate you jogging my memory about the wire when you mentioned twist ties.

The gauge had just enough threads without the connector to slightly pressurize the tank. Air was leaking around the gauge but it seems everything is working. Hopefully I can find a male-female connector without having to head out.

I have hammered in torx bits to get broken off stubs of small pipes out as well.

The first thing I looked for was a large Torx bit. Didn't have one large enough.

You could also use a Dremel tool with a carbide burr bit, and gently remove it.

It's already out. Turned into quite the ordeal. Should've waited for the first reply.

I have internal pipe wrenches for years. You know where they come from?

The #part number SKU was P6672 and the nylon storage pouch is labeled Weiles

My general screw extractors sets Hanson and Mayhew. well they are smaller but depending on the internal pipe size 3/8" on the Hanson and up to 9/16" with the Mayhew sure...will work too

The 2 holes on the Weiles adapter (left side of pic) locks the ball of the tool shank on one side and then the ball of a ratchet on the other

Wow, I have never heard of a internal pipe wrench also ... now I have to run down to Home Depot to get a set ... Learning something new everyday.
