I've been wanting a set of ratcheting wrenches and bought singles of several different kinds to compare. Finally found the Williams USA made set which is what I decided on.

All reversible ratcheting. Proto Taiwan spline and 12 point, Gearwrench, Williams Taiwan and USA, and Blackhawk.

I can sell them to you for $100 shipped, or you can borrow them and send me a deposit that I'll refund when you return them.

I was almost ready to go with Blackhawk but the Williams USA felt like a big improvement for not much more cost.

The USA super combo look like the old snap-on design ratcheting wrenches. Too bad they don’t come in larger sizes

did you order them as individual wrenches or as a set?

i'm researching wrenches but don't really know what i want yet.
i currently have a mismatched assortment of taiwan junk. missing many sizes, and i have some duplicates. i've held off because knipex pliers wrenches get it done for me most of the time, but a major downside to them is that you have to squeeze the handles.

out of curiosity, have you ever tried the wera joker ratcheting combo wrenches? those look pretty spiffy to me.

Wrenches are here, will post some pics in the next few days and when I first use them. Really impressed with the wrenches and the presentation - not about being glitzy but they came in a tool roll with just good quality packaging and a initialed notecard from the people who made/assembled them.

Ordered as a set but added a couple of the smaller sizes as individuals that didn't come with the set.

I thought about this for a long time and really glad I ended up with these. Didn't look hard at the jokers because I really like reversible, but I think I remember hearing the new version of the jokers is reversible.

My old ones are Craftsman USA and I liked them, got a lot of use out of them, but was missing several sizes and the Williams USA are a massive step up. The box ends are only barely thicker than any of the others and I can't imagine any situation when they would become an issue.

Basically short of buying the Snap-Ons or USA Protos which would be a stupid $ decision for my DIY use, these are as top-shelf as I could imagine.

Took some photos and sharing my thoughts - the USA Williams look great and I think they will be a huge step up. The ratcheting ring doesn't seem overly thick to me which was my concern. Nicely packed and came with wrench wraps. The teeth on the open end are not aggressive. All in all, exactly what I wanted.

I've got one, a 12mm non-reversible-switch that I picked up for some car task a few years ago. It feels pretty nice, but I don't think they're a good value for me at ~$20 a wrench. The 12pt open jaw doesn't inspire a huge amount of confidence in how much it will grip. The nut holding plate is nice, but I haven't found myself using it much. I'd have to try it on a more heavily used size in my day-to-day; maybe 7/16ths. Not the highest tooth count, but the ratchet feels strong. I like the finish, but I don't love the wera-pattern forged into the middle.



I'll have to get another pic, but the Joker wrench roll is my favorite. Unfortunately they realized the appeal, and stopped selling empty pouches across the board. It was a steal at 10 bucks, but resellers with any left want 30+ now. If you like the Joker, and go for a set, definitely try to find one of the original velcro tool rolls included with the 11 pc metric set, or the 8 pc SAE set.

I'm really glad to see them making these. So few ratcheting wrenches are made in the US and the Supercombo open end is quite nice. Good length and comfortable thick beams round out the design.
