Don, any tips for the world's worst auto painter? I've never been able to spray anything without winding up with runs, orange peel, or a combination of the two. I've watched tutorials online, etc., but there's clearly something I'm just not getting. Is it one of those things where even attempting to paint something without top of the line equipment is a fool's errand? Or is it something where you just have to have a high volume of air (which I hope to have soon but never have in the past)?

Your work on simple oil cans is better than anything I've been able to do on a car or bike, and that's frustrating!

Don: I know taping is probably the most tedius maybe even boring type job, but I can tell that you do it like a pro and it's one of the many many many reasons your finished products are like now others in the world. WELL DONE AGAIN!!

just curious do you have a favorite brand/type of tape and do you buy by the case or maybe pallet?

like i've said if you have to be stuck in one place for a few weeks while the world stops this PANDEMIC what a wonderful place you have to spend it.

stay safe and healthy and it goes without saying I (we) always look forward to your posts hitting the top of our screens so keep up the great work.

all I have to say about all the pictures you are restoring it's great that you are doing that, but honestly i bet if the new members just start following along they will get more than their fill with the new pictures and your projects so maybe let that ship sink and keep up taking more new pictures.

I don't know how the lesser value toole and product work.
I have a high $$ spray gun for color and another for the clear products and one more just for shooting primer.
The product I use is all commercial automotive P.P.G. and it's not cheap either even with all this hiline stuff it takes practice to get it down smooth.

I'm glad that the avocados didn't go to waste on the ground under the trees.
I enjoy the challenge of masking trying to keep the lines tight and straight
All my tape is automotive 3M products fine line for stripes and yellow for the masking paper. I order 2 sizes for the paper masking 3/4" and 11/2" for striping I use 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2

I'm adding pictures back to the front of the thread for my own use as well as others. I've replaced 27 pgs so far and work on it every night for an hour or so. It will take some time but I will git-R-done.

I finished painting the red paint around 7pm last night and because I prefer to pull the tape off my projects with stripes before the paint has cured I went back out to the shop around 10:30 and brought the cans and greaser into the house to pull the tape.
So today I put the greaser back together and put a few decals on the cans and put them into the garage

The greaser still needs to have a logo painted on when we can leave the property again

The weather has broken and it looks like a nice day today so I'm going to start on another large project for the Pennzoil garage.

I started taking the it apart, the emblems were pretty easy to remove but those chrome pieces on the top of the box were a real problem. The screws holding them on were so rusted that the screw driver spun the slot away and I had to grind them off. now I'll have to drill the screw shaft out of the holes and retap each hole.

The side handles were easy to remove and I managed to get them sand blasted

The handles are pretty rough cast so A test grind to see if I can polish them

I did work on the lub center today and got the rust area taken care of before moving back to the air brush compressor

I managed to get the compressor parts all bead blasted and the casting marks removed then hit all the parts with an etching primer

I couldn't count the number of possible projects I have here on the property today. There are 4 shipping containers full of stuff. 1/2 of it is junk I'm sure but there are a lot of treasures in the mix. I have the 40 ford, the C.O.E. and the el camino each well on there way to being finished so I will never run out of things to do

I can only work on a big project for so long then I have to back away and let the Ideas and brain poots subside and let it come back into focus. I probably have a dozen or more projects started around here at any given time. The garden has somehow taken over all of my time lately. Jim

I really love this time of year around here. We have over 150 rose bushes that we cut back every January and April is when they first bloom again. The place looks good and smells great.
