Garage size / layout help

I just finished building my house and it’s almost time to build the garage. Where I am the garage has to be attached to the house so I’m not limited on the height. So I’m adding a breeze way (hallway) to go from the house to the garage so I can have the extra height.

Right now the architect drew the garage 37’ long and 23’ wide. You enter the garage from the left. I’m trying to add 3 roll up bay doors and 2 lifts. Lift #1 to be able to store a car on top and one on bottom as well as work on it. Lift #2 to be able to work on the car the whole time. Eventually possibly be able to store a car as well. I’m not sure if I will have enough room or not. Is there someone that can design it to make sure I have the space. Etc

If you provide your architect with lift model numbers and tell him how big you would like your doors, he/she should be able to design a layout to meet the specs of the equipment. Storage lifts don't need a lot of workspace around them but I would certainly want some around the lift you plan to work on.

IMHO, re-check your bylaws just in case.

On my old house, an open breezeway was enough for the garage to be considered attached. On my current place, it required a common/heated wall with main dwelling to be considered attached. (Hallways/breezways do not count.) YMMV.

To you or anyone else… I was thinking about doing 2 benpack (or similar) 2 post lifts. Do you know if I can store a car on one of those? Does anyone recommend a lift? My father is 6’2” and my father in law is 6’4” so it needs to be slightly taller?
