I will be turning a conex into steel storage, the rollers will make it easier to get things in and out, at least that is the idea, still need to figure a few things out.

I bet the rollers will be used to move the trucks around kinda like at a dry cleaners. Umm, what truck do I want to use today. Nice looking tool box too.

Thanks guys, special ordered it with lots of small drawers.

Got up early this morning to pick up a few small pieces of rollers with the burb, owner of the distribution warehouse gave me the tour, lots of beer.

The warehouse was something like 450’ deep and 250’ wide, had another area almost as big to load trucks inside. He said Mom and Pop stores have almost no deliveries, but grocery stores have picked up the slack. Unfortunately they are having trouble with kegs, he said they had to dump 9000 gallons this month. I am not a beer guy, but my GF was freaking out about it.

Nothing like coming home to a backed up sewer drain, luckily it hadn’t done much overflowing, but I am not a poop fan. :(

Luckily we have a decent warranty plan through the local water district and they sent someone over in about three hours, took an hour to get it unclogged, but we should be good for another couple years. Damn plants root into the old clay pipes and choke the flow off. If it wasn’t $10k to rip up the road and replace it, I would do it, but the warranty plan covered $5k a few years ago to replace what was on our property and that solved the major issues.

The entire time I was there, all I could think of was Strange Brew.

What the hell this song has to do with beer:beer:

Strange Brew
Cream
Strange brew, kill what's inside of you.
She's a witch of trouble in electric blue,
In her own mad mind she's in love with you.
With you.
Now what you gonna do?
Strange brew, kill what's inside of you.
She's some kind of demon messing in the glue.
If you don't watch out it'll stick to you.
To you.
What kind of fool are you?
Strange brew, kill what's inside of you.
On a boat in the middle of a raging sea,

Just found out the offer I put in on a pair of rotary screw compressors was accepted, will be picking them up sometime next week. I will be curious if I like them or not, they have a different noise, but definitely quieter than the regular compressors. The main reason I wanted them is the footprint is smaller and the CFM is bigger.

I am amazed on how many "offers" you have out there. The rollers seem cool, If I recall correctly, Duker uses some in his metal fab shop. I know they would come in handy doing some of my wood projects. But like you said they would be a pain to move around.

I am always wheeling and dealing. The company also has a bunch of pallets they want me to take, probably a dozen or so with various belts, motors, and gear boxes, $1,000 for all, I think I can make my money back on one pallet, there are a bunch of brand new motors, also some things that might be worth something, or they might not be worth something, I have to do my research.

You would think I could have taken one picture of both compressors, but apparently not. ;)

My wife quickly learned to not complain when I drag home a trailer load of miscellaneous oddball stuff. It might sit around to 6 years, then someone will need it.

Wait till you find out the filter separator that gets the oil back out of the compressed air is $300 and the other filter is $75 and the oil is $60 a quart.
They are quiet though
Just stay far away from Atlas Copco screw compressors.
They are total junk built with made in China parts and they won’t honor their warranty.

You have to pay to play. ;)

I figure that they are designed to run a lot of hours, these may be at half life for a 24/7 warehouse, but they will be fine for me for a long time. Hopefully Dad thinks the noise is OK, we will see, heck, I may not even give home the opportunity. I am investigating VFDs now, might be cheaper than swapping motors, I have one that is the right power and RPM, but I think it needs a bearing.

SSR-EP10 we think they are 1998 or 99 models. I spoke with the maintenance guy, no interest in if they sell or not, he said they were maintained by the local IR dealer and they had been very reliable. They were used to run the conveyor lines.

My local air compressor guru said they were decent machines and should run 75k hours, he also said to check for parts on eBay because the separators are pricey just like you said.

Those are good units. I was worried they were a newer model from the 2005-2007 era that had lots of issues.

A VFD would help if you plan to keep them running unloaded for long periods of time. But if you have them shut off unless you are actually using air, then the ROI for a VFD is a lot longer.

Not a lot, every once in awhile I find some cool things in a pallet load, when you say builders hardware, can you elaborate?

The costs for a motor and starter are just about the same, (within $100), as the VFD. I am more worried about the longevity of the VFD. We will be using the compressor relatively light and fairly randomly. The VFD will be a benefit on the soft start side of things, but the local air compressor guy says that I could run a 5HP motor and still be happy. That might work for my Dad, but I want the full 35 CFM. ;)

Luckily they are going to let me sort and consolidate at their warehouse. I will probably end up with 8 pallets or so, I want to list the new motors and gearboxes for sale on eBay, along with a few other things, some stuff will get repurposed and some will be saved.

Most of this stuff is too big for drawers, but thanks for the support. ;)

I feel like a bunch of it will be trash, then I will want to keep a portion, the main idea is to sell as much as possible and bring in some money to offset costs.

I bought a trailer last night, picking it up later this afternoon, also going to look at the military hummer today, guy doesn’t want to budge on the price, so I need to take a good look at it. It is setup as a two door, so it looks kind of goofy, might just pass on it, but I want to look it over. They don’t often come up this cheap and the guy has already gone through all the trouble of getting a title for it, there is some good value in that. Although Maine won’t require a title due to the age, if I sell it later on, lots of people need a title, so it should help. I can buy a newer one at auction for similar money, but they are usually not complete or have damage, this one is very complete with no physical damage, just has a bad engine. They usually bring $15k on the open market (running and driving) this one is $6,500 and I have a couple motors. Could be a fun end of the world apocalypse type vehicle. It is the older all mechanical engine, with a bulletproof transmission and transfer case, I figure I might end up into it for $9k and then I can decide if I keep it or sell it for profit.

I had to reschedule the humvee looksee, I found another issue with Perk and I need to get it fixed before I pick up the trailer tonight, probably could do both, but I don't think it is worth the risk, I need the trailer more than I need to look at the hummer. At least I have my priorities straight. ;)
