Take a straight edge and make sure the motor pulley is inline with the compressor pump pulley.

check belt alignment, correct tension, worn or damages pulleys

Thanks. For some reason I thought the tension was preset, but just went back out and obviously it's adjustable. I feel like an idiot, not sure what I was thinking. What is the proper tension?

BTW: Pulleys look and feel fine, nice fluid movement with regards to bearings.

The proper tension is goodntight. Not so tight that it plays like a guitar string but not so loose that it flops like a fish. Maybe 1/4-1/2” belt deflection.
