I have one from Harbor Freight I use for brake jobs. I've owned it for about 5 years now and had no problems with it.

Just about anything would work for brake rotors.
Pick the cheapest one you can get your hands on.
Curious what you’re measuring with an indicator on a rotor?
Runout? Just sticking the mag base to the car and checking for warp?

I found a Mitutoyo (or claims it's that) for $26 on wish.com
astoundingly low since I think the one that is broken cost me $35 in the 1970s...
Lot's of Mitutoyo fakes out there. Buyer beware...

You will only find genuine Mitutoyo from places like MSC, McMaster-Carr, Grainger and other industrial tool suppliers.

I got mine from SHARS tools.I paid $15 for it.They offer a good selection of indicators.Got a mag base and some other stuff too.They carry alot of machining related stuff.Nice calipers.They are easy to find on the web.
