Aww hell, I hate it when that happens! What's the relay in the first photo with nothing plugged into it? A leftover from some past accessory long since removed?

That's the horn relay was pulled on by the horn win it broke away from where it was mounted. The hot wire going to it got toasty and roasted the relay which fell apart. I wired the truck 30 years ago using a reproduction wire loom. I don't remember why the wire to the relay had a constant hot wire to it. The truck has circuit breakers in the dash but can't remember if the horn wire runs through one. I'll have to check the wire schematic in the shop manual.

Not what I did today but will be doing this weekend.

Has grounding short of a wire in my '49 F-2 Ford pickup this afternoon. Burned the bundle of wire from the radiator to the firewall. I'll be replacing the wires this weekend.

More pictures? I have 1948 F-6. It looks like you already converted yours to 12v. I'm just getting started on my restoration project.

I swapped my full hard doors to half doors and updated the wire harness on the half doors to support the door ajar function for interior light and alarm function. My year jeep has some ******* body side connections front is 14+ rear is from a 12; my Jeep is a 13 go figure. The front was a factory harness and easy to get, the rear not so much. I ended up finding a matching plug w/pigtail on amazon for cheap. I splice that into the door harness and it works perfectly. Plus if I ever decide to add power locks I have the wires all ready to go.

Built a stand for my little SWAG bandsaw table today. Bought the little table months ago and have had it clamped into one of my vises. The SWAG works really well and it works even better now.

Fixed a bunch of little sick things. Cleaned up a lot. Sorted stuff. Recycled n chucked a garbage can full. Welded a broken rake. Took the bike out. Brought it back inside, a couple hours later.

Unfortunately I wasn't overly ambitious today, but I did take my infant for a tour around the garage. Look baby here is: dad's wheelhorse, his other wheelhorse, his skidloader, forklift.....Etc etc. I think she liked it or maybe was just overwhelmed by all the different half finished projects. I hope she can enjoy spending time in the shop when she gets a little older. Cheers,

I have a Festool MFT work table with a CT-36 vac underneath. It is in the center of my shop, and mostly I use Festool tools so keeping a dedicated cord plugged in to the “auto activate” plug usually works fine.

Lately I have been wanting to use non-Festool tools with the vac, I really hate switching cords, so I added this.

View media item 104303
The grey plugs are plugged into the wall via a 12-3 cord. The orange plugs are plugged into the front of the vac. This gives me an extra switched plug, and a spare full time plug at my MFT. It is mounted with a piece of scrap aluminum channel.

More cleaning/polishing/detailing on the ZRX11 & the Camaro. Picked up some Mequiars hybrid ceramic wax at Wally World & was blown away at the results on the bike..

Did you get the liquid? I have used the spray since last year and actually just redid my Scoobie Thursday. I just looked out the window and the rain water is beading and running off like crazy. I've wanted to get the liquid, but was waiting for reviews to see if it's any better than the spray. I can only assume it will be, as it should have a thicker layer than a spray.

I should do a stacked clamp rack like that. I tend to do a single row and I just have too many pipe and bar clamps now...

So, stealing the idea.

Only thing I wish I done different is go fully to the door track, but I will hit that obstacle when I max out this rack. I can always move the hose reel to Center it under the clamps.

I was out in my shop yesterday. I had the big door open. A medium size HINO dump truck came down the lane. The drive shaft was slopping around. It appeared the rear universal joint was destroyed. I got the driver's attention and pointed out the problem. He did not understand what I was suggesting.
So the driver and the truck continued on to the neighbour's carport, two doors away. The HINO reversed up close to the carport. The damaged universal joint was twice as loud in reverse. The Hino driver raised the dump box and almost immediately got it tangled in the overhead communication cables. The neighbour was out in the lane and directing the truck driver. The neighbour was waving his arms around and apparently not being understood by the driver. Fortunately the driver lowered the box before moving ahead and the cables held on then released with a great snap.
The Hino dump has a divided box, so the driver reversed up a second time and caught the cable again. The first dump was bark mulch and the second dump was composted soil. The second cable contact was not hooked on the box, fortunately. The driver drove away with the box elevated. .

Inventoried the plumbing supplies I have arriving. Although my home was built in 2007 I am less than enthused about the Zurn Pex and traditional trunk and branch system currently in place. So I am going to be converting the house to a home run system using a Viega Manabloc, the Pro-Press fitting system and replacing my hot water heater with a Rheem Marathon hot water heater (it is a polymer hot water heater). I will be doing a full write up for anyone interested in the future.

Today and a few previous days. Rounded up some old motors, a safety stand and just what I had on hand to make a portable pedestal for mounting buffing wheels, wire brushes and my stretcher/shrinker. I used an old hitch receiver to make everything easily interchangeable and used some old engine stand wheels. I still need to make something for winding the cords on, a handle for wheeling it around and need a few arbors. My bench grinder is permanently mounted because it gets used a lot but buffing/wire wheels, not as much.

the other day I organized all the parts for the greenhouse I got for my wife. Several pieces were broken or missing so I have to wait to get it installed, but I did get the foundation built in the meantime. Now, I just need to finish digging the trench to run electrical out to it.

Mounted the decking on the trailer, now I just need to make some filler boards and the deck will be done, then I just need to tidy up the wiring some.

Messing with the same Sears Jr. (Prentiss Wabers made ) lantern I fixed the pump leak in a short time ago, and now its not getting fuel through. I wound up completely taking it apart, disassembling the valve mixing assembly and cleaning it before discovering the PU tube was plugged and the tank had a lot of rust grit inside

So after a "BB" dance to get all the loose or somewhat loose stuff out Its soaking in white vinegar, overnight, and I finally got the PU tube somewhat clear, and its also soaking in vinegar.

Its a good thing this tank has very heavy walls or I'd probably be looking for a new one.

I cant complain too much though, I'm guessing this is it first real rebuild since it was made 80 odd years ago...

I'd rather be doing that than the oak leaf raking I did later (detail raking, getting them out from between asparagus ferns - a real PITA)...

I built a wooden shelf and rack a while back. Just the right size to cover the cat boxes in the garage and hold all their food and litter along with some other stored supplies. Today I finally painted it. Satin black. That way it will blend in with my new age cabinets that are arriving Wednesday a little bit better

I built a rustic beer cooler for my son-in-law for Father's day. It's the third one I've built and we use ours a lot for summer parties. It uses a 150 quart Igloo cooler and I made it using wood reclaimed from old fences.

Repaired the fuel sender that stopped working in my ‘57 T-Bird.

Had good power to the sender and was pulsing as it should. Continuity checked out as well. Tank was well grounded. However, when attempting to measure resistance, could not get anything but full scale reading on the V/O meter so decided to remove sender.

Basically, this unit was falling apart in the tank. The sender has seen some service in it’s past life as the case halves were somewhat soldered together, that is to say, an attempt was made to solder them together. Didn’t work very well.

My fix was to clean everything, adjust the wiper contact and simply wire the two halves securely together.

Cut notches into the body of the sender to bed the wire when wrapping the halves together. Those halves are not going anyplace.

Continuing to prep for the True Lock HD Ribbed flooring (arrived this week) which is sitting in boxes waiting!

I'm reusing the melamine cabinets I already own (Yeah, admittedly not the best) I felt the need to try to reinforce them some. Installed 2x4's underneath with countersunk screws through from the inside. Tops have sagged a bit due to stuff stored on top in the past - I'll reinforce them too. Painted 2x4 kick plates flat black to match my stem walls.

Concealed the tankless water heater by notching a cabinet in back and fabricating "closure boards" which I'll paint to match. Scored a 24" x 53" stainless countertop w/sink from Craigslist. I want stainless legs but they're over $60 ea. from Amazon so will use 4x4's in front and a ledger on the wall.

I'll need some kind of backsplash. Maybe FRP (ugh) or diamond plate, possibly metal pegboard, not sure. Suggestions welcome.

Continuing with rust removal in the Sears Jr lantern Fount. Drained the vinegar, did some more "BB Dancing" got more loose stuff out, took a look inside - Its mostly rust free, but still needs some more. So back in went the vinegar.

The PU tube seems clear now, so that's ready when the fount is; Hoping to be able to fire it up this evening.

Dan, I like the way you covered the water heater with the cabinet.

I recommend against diamond plate and any kind pegboard as a backsplash for the sink. They are a pain to keep clean. I think a stainless backsplash would look great.

Mounted the winch to my trailer. Hid it inside of an aluminum toolbox on the tongue. Looks damn good if I do say so myself.
