Any suggestions for DeWalt DCF889 Cordless Impact?

When i got this it wasn't too big a deal to pull sockets or my torque sticks off the impact. Over time it has gotten worse and worse to the point where you almost need 2 people working to get one socket off.

Is there something that needs more lubrication or anything? Looking for suggestions. Thanks

That's a pin lock anvil. Usually you need a pin punch to push through the hole in the socket to depress the pin for releasing. Are you saying you've been able to pull the socket off without depressing the pin all this time?

yes that's what i use to depress the pin or something like that (small screwdriver)

I just remember using only a minimal amount of force to remove, but did have something small to press in there. Now it takes a whole lot of force to remove even when depressing the pin. That is assuming i align the pin with the hole on the socket. I am told that if i don't align this it might be easier to get on and off.

I took an angle die grinder and ground mine down a touch just this week. So much better ereplacementparts.com you can buy the hog ring anvil for $20 and replace the pin anvil

I have the hog ring version, and after two years it's still *seriously* tough to get a socket off. Harder than any impact wrench I've used.

You can get a replacement anvil for those for around $30. Switch it over to the hog ring style. Much easier to use. The pin style are great for when you are almost exclusively using one size of socket for a specific task, but are nothing but a pain for a broader range of use.

Also I can't say I've ever had a socket go flying across the room before while using the hog ring style either, so they do retain sockets quite well.

Yep, what these fine gentlemen said. File it down a bit.
Here a youtube video of how it worked out for someone else (towards the end of the video)

Try pulling on the socket while giving the trigger a bump. On my Milwaukee getting a socket to release or attach takes a ton of effort from a "standstill", but doing as I mentioned makes doing either fairly easy.

thanks for all the good advice everyone. I did put a drop of oil in and it is maybe a bit easier but not by much.

But i did just order a 3/8 impact and this time i got the hog ring!
