Nice gift from a SO dealer

Last month I bought a KRL combo from a SO dealer. After he unloaded it I asked him if I could get a small bottle of touch up paint just in case.

I thought he had forgotten but today I got a large box from UPS. Inside the box was the bottle of touch up paint and a real nice high quality hooded winter jacket with SO logos.

I'm not on this dealers route nor am I a regular customer. However this was really a nice gesture.

Yes obviously, but I assume this dealer get's an limited allocation of promotional items from SO. I'd assume he'd use them for his "real" customers vs. me.

At 30% discount his margin was probably pretty thin on my KRL. (unless SO gave him a special back end allowance).

I just thought it was a nice gesture and I still value quality product and good customer service.

There is no such thing as an allocation of promotional products from Snap-on. Dealers have to buy everything. The only thing that the dealers get for free are catalogs.

It was a nice gesture. I'm sure he'd like to sell you some more stuff and good service is the way to do it:thumbup:

That is good to hear. I have found I usually get fair to great service from Snap On dealers. Only place I get poor service is from Matco and Mac.

"I paid for those..."

you made over 40-50+percent profit margin, what dies that jacket cost the dealer? Exactly.

They don't make nearly that, somebody's giving you bad info..

+1... I know dealer pretty well and his margin average is no where near that. Just like in any business, giving out freebies or good deals to customers are not free to the business owner, but just the cost of doing good business.

I've never dealt with a SO dealer in person, but from what I've been reading, each dealer has to make certain quota each month just to be in business. otherwise, SO will kick you out. a nice sized tool box deal makes up the volume of many small tools, and I know for a fact they don't sell a box every week. you probably just help him made his quota.

Snap-on does not have any minimum purchase or sales requirements for franchised dealers. The dealers that are operating under the gateway franchise program may have some minimum sales requirements to meet but Snap-on does not terminate dealers on a whim. It costs too much to recruit and train new dealers. The box that the OP purchased did make that dealers week, that is for sure.

I contacted Chadster last year on a whim, looking for an out of production item. He had one, so I bought it. He threw in a nice set of gear wrench mechanics gloves. Big surprise that was greatly appreciated. I have since registered on his site & bought a couple other items from him.

I always thought that the best dealer would be a hot girl/woman, what tech would say they couldn't afford something to a hot single girl!

Then you wouldn't give any deals and no freebies.

Maybe put a pole in the truck :bounce:

That is what my dream is to do with my girlfriend. She can run a truck while I work, can't' even imagine how well it would do to have her selling tools to men all day. I know a good looking women rep for one of our suppliers and when our manager talks to her he buys whatever she offers.

What does she offer? :bounce:

Ha ha, shes a sales rep for an industrial/shop product supply house. She did give out christmas cards with a picture of her and her friend in skanky santa outfits. Needless to say we have gotten lots of stuff that we don't even need and lots of it. I bet her commission checks are awesome.

That's awesome that your dealer sent you a jacket with the touch up paint. I think it's always nice to get something extra that you didn't expect. It's nice that there are dealers out there that will do something extra for customers... It's even nicer when you're not a regular.

I just got a new KRL1022 and got a couple of extras and I think I might have been more excited about them than the box.
