This is the handle shape that is similar to the set I bought in the late ‘70s or early ‘80s.

Thanks, Don. Food for thought. Maybe your earlier model is more convex on the “flats” and the later one is more concave. Unfortunately for my question, design patents do not require a verbal explanation of distinguishing characteristics - just a drawing. So it’s up to the eye of the beholder to see the difference.

Paint CANundrum:
I had attempted to find a gray spray to match the original color of the 1930s/40s boxes I’ve collected. I think I used 2X dark gray a few years ago on the FB-50 carry box, and wasn’t entirely satisfied (it looks a little purple to me). Today, I tried SW machine gray on a K-23, thinking I had a closer (lighter) match. I see now that I was fooled by an old repaint. I was looking at the side of an internal drawer (repainted), instead of the back of the drawer (original). And then, there’s a K-11 (Duplex) that is lighter than the original paint on the back of the K-23.
Oh well, I only painted the bottom and back, because they were pitted and I used Stops Rust rusty metal primer on them. I intend to sand and paint again.
The real issue is, I LIKE the lighter machine gray more, and I intend to leave the internal drawers as they are (mixed original, repaint & bare metal). Should I strive to match the original, or be content with something I like better? It’s not like I’m trying to fool anyone it’s original, just authentic.
Thoughts/opinions?

I do not think it matters that much, never found an exact match, but I don't think Snap on did either.

A couple of Snap-On from Saturday. The S12 extension is dated 1935. The swivel socket is difficult to tell, but I think it's '39.

Many thanks to Snapmom for supplying the missing screw to my 71-M! Works great with the new guts and with the old style screws, it still looks vintage. Thanks Snapmom!

Did Snap-On ever sell a Foreman's Desk? My Google Fu didn't turn up much. I'm inclined to think someone just stuck a badge on the desk, but I certainly could be wrong.

Looks pretty cool. May or may not be a snap on product, I certainly would not put it past them.

It’s a K-22. 20-1/4w 8-1/4d 10-3/4h
The K-23 doesn’t have the two latches.
I think, too, a 23 would have come with drawer glides after 1939, so would be a K-23-W.
Since it got the triangular decal around 1940 and was discontinued by 1948, it’s WWII-era, and in beautiful shape for its age.

No. 3 Tee. Eight types.
Made 1920-about 1941. I would think there are more types than eight, also dates are just a good guess as I think I do not have all of them. So, if you have any other types or differences in date codes, please post as to get the most correct eras and types. Does anyone have a 3 with internal stops in the grip

Type 1. 1920. two pinch, no name, no center grip.
Type 2. 1920-22 four pinch, snap on name, no center grip
Type 3. 1923. 2 ball stop, snap on name, no center grip.
Type 4. 1923-25. 2 ball, Milwaukee, 7/8" wide center grip with pinches
Type 5. 1925-26. 2 ball, Milwaukee, 7/8 wide center grip with ball stops
Type 6. 1926-29. 2 ball, No. 3. 7/8 wide center grip with ball stops, date 27
Type 7. 1929-34? Collar stop, 3/4 wide center grip with ball stops. date 1931
Type 8. 1934-41? Collar has slope. 3/4 wide center grip with ball stops 1935

Here is one No. 3 that fits between type 3 & 4: 2 ball stop, snap on name 3-7/16" center grip. And six sockets: 1", 15/16" x 2, 25/32", 13/16", 5/8".

Yes it is 22 I've been trying to go threw all the catalogs to see when the triangle stickers started being used, I picked it up during the quarantine this guy wanted it gone, (very nice very organized guy said he bought it in the early 60's and was time for it to go,) on FB market he was asking 40.$ I thought it was a type-o and asked how much do you want. He shot back I'll take 30. Dollars and that's as low as I will go_OK

Thanks, OTG, After photographing them, I noticed the mark on the 13/16" closest to the handle in the third photo looks like a Z instead of the overstrike. Any idea?

Two types of F70 rats with flat selector switches. The difference in the two is the pin in the faceplate, one on the left is built in, on the right one is a replaceable pin like the one used in the F70 for the next few years. The flat selector is shown only in the 31 catalog, Was used on the F7, F70 and 71 ratchets. I think only used in late 1930- early 1931. hard to find them

Any reason some are f-7 and others f-70? They seem the same.

I have never understood why, in a lot of cases, why they did, or did not change model numbers. Sometimes it has to do with a complete change, sometimes I see no change.
There was probably a change in the guts between these two, I never take the ones with the fitted faceplate apart unless they are not working.

A repaint of my late 30s nut spinner box. I do not like to repaint unless most all of the factory paint is gone. You just about can spot all repaints, so I try for the same color, but I did change the logo to a different look.

Does anyone know the application of a Blue Point M 4352 wrench, dated -28, 9/16” on both ends? Collecting Snap-On doesn’t list it.

International Trucks. Models SF-46 and SL-46, for exhaust manifold to cylinder block: exhaust manifold to exhaust pipe: water pump stud nuts and generator mounting.

also:
Marquette: Manifold wrench: to easily get at the rear bolts on the exhaust manifold flange. also adapted for Gardner (Lycoming motor) manifold to cylinder an manifold to exhaust pipe.

Would date -28 1928

Some Snap on 9/32 drive crowfoot sockets. Quite hard to find, no model numbers, no date codes, were probably military as most of them have shown up in the UK. I have no clue as to how many are in a set.

Here's another date code question for you snapmom!

Much like my 71-M ratchet with the X code, this 9/16 swivel socket has what looks like a "G" code but the style doesn't show up on the charts. I don't think it resembles the 1945 G on the SO date decoder rings. I'm 0-2 in dating these things.
