Thanks for your comment.
At least several brands were found at the US ebay even Japanese brand, such as ASAHI, NTK, SPEED and GLORY.
These are vintages at 1970's.

TOYOTA never have the katakana logo on combination & open end wrench.
Only "MONOTAROU" which is Japanaese net shop model has the katakana logo on combination wrench.

How do the Japanese view the hierarchy of tool quality. Is Nepros at the top for quality?

Yes, Nepros by KTC is at the top for quality, I believe so.
KTC is the top manufacturer in Japan from the viewpoint of not only the quality but also the volume of sales.
NeprosBlue1.jpg

I think the second is TONE.
TONE also had the mirror polish model with high quality from 1991 to 2010, as model name "Fine Tool".

Most interesting blog, corgibell -- thanks for sharing your work with us.

What did/does Toyota do for tools in the their Century models? I'm curious if the top-top model has anything special. The Century has never been sold here in the USA, of course, so we don't get to know much about that special vehicle.

I have used Shimano (and especially Dura-Ace) components on my bicycles for over 40 years, corgibell. Over the years Shimano has made or had made for them a lot of special tools.

I have a lot of special service tools from Shimano, but don't have any combination wrenches. It seems like it would be that company's style to have them. Have you looked through what the bicycle manufacturers and component makers have done around combination wrenches?

Great collection of info. Wish there was a resource like this for all tools and countries.

Ko-Ken has focused to the socket & the rachet wrench.
Therefore, only 2 combination wrences by OEM were there.
1st one is by KTC, and 2nd one is by Beta/Italy.
Currently no combination wrench is there.
Detail is explained as follows.

Unfortunately, Toyata Century does/did not have the special tools not only combo but also open end.
On other hand, Nissan Infiniti Japanese version did have the special combo wrench.

Unfortunately, the bicycle manufacturers and component makers have not done around combination wrenches.
2 special combination wrenches are available by tools manufacturer.
1st one is launced by KTC.
This combo is designed for for the biycle, and special name "SAKURA" means cherry blossom.

Instead of Century, LEXUS has/had a own's brand combination wrench.
This is made in Japan, by KTC.
Lexus.jpg

However this was installed only US LEXUS as my understand.
Because current Japanese LEXUS has not installed tools.
Around 10-years ago, brand name was Celcior in Japan, not LEXUS.
And tools kit without Celcior name was installed.

Difficult me to say it, because my PC is Japanese version, not English version.
Would you please search by "Google Chrome English Translation" or "Language Change".

The tools with LEXUS imprints were equipped in vehicles from the early 1990s, I believe. Since the mid-1990s the tools are still there, but there is no name on them.

My 2008 Lexus RX (Toyota Harrier) has the tools, including two open-end wrenches, but they are only marked with mm size and JAPAN.

Over the years some of the best collections of Toyota tools came with Land Cruiser models. Never any combination wrenches though, as far as I know. Always open-end wrenches for efficiency -- two sizes in one wrench.

How do you select English on your website?

If you're using Chrome as your browser, right click on the background of the page and select "TRANSLATE TO ENGLISH". It normally works pretty well for all text except that shown in photos.

For photos, one can use the Google Translate app on ones smartphone and the "camera" option to highlight text.

Thanks for your comment.
At first, I made a mistake of the explanation sntence.
I miswrote "Instead of Century, LEXUS has/had a own's brand combination wrench".
I correct "LEXUS has/had a own's brabd open end wrench", as attached photo.
This LEXUS open end wrench was found out by US ebay.
Let me know this was installed in US LEXUS.

Yes, corgibell, the LEXUS imprinted open end wrenches were installed in US Lexus models in the past time. The original LS400 had them, I believe around 1989-1994, and maybe only the earlier part of that range.

For many years the tools are still standard equipment, but there are no more LEXUS imprints.

Here are the tools from my 2008 LEXUS RX350. No LEXUS name.

Juki, the sewing machine company, provided wrenches with some of their machines. They are mostly double open ended wrenches, of dubious quality, but at least one of my machines came with a 9mm combination wrench. I think I sold it with the machine, though.

Thanks for your information.
Yes, JUKI provids double open end wrench with their machine.
However, I have never seen the combination wrench with JUKI logo.
If you have a chance to get photos of it, would you please put it this column.

Welcome to GJ, Corgibell!

A very interesting thread!!

I have a few (KTC) Toyota/トヨタ/Nissan wrenches too.

I found an SAE size Ko-ken DOE wrench some years ago, which I thought was interesting. I should take a photo of it.

I looked into my photo archives and found these interesting ones to attach (these are not mine):

Pic 1-3:
Infiniti and Mugen tools from when KTC was in the Mirrortool-era

Pic 4-7:
KTC has had a long-standing contract with Toyota and the release of the new 86 created some model specific tools from their Nepros line. I don't know whether this was a dealer option or a limited edition set of tools.

Thanks for your information.
I found the first generation of Ko-Ken combination wrench at US ebay, and now have waited it to arrive to Japan.
It is OEM model by KTC.
Ko-Ken.jpg

Regarding Nepros for TOYATA 86, it was sold at 86 dealers as spare parts around $150.
It was terminated to sell about 5-years ago.
KTC special edition model were posted following page.
