I’m wondering what the easiest way to smooth the edge of the recess for my scissor lift once I get the forms out. Not sure if grinding can filling would be best. Thanks
Step one is to run a grinder over the edge before you strip the forms to remove the concrete fin that extends out over the top of the form board. This will minimize the damage to the edge in the first place.
As to the damage that's already occurred, it's pretty tough to fix an edge that has raveled by patching. The patch just isn't likely to stay put. Grinding a radius or chamfer is probably your best bet.
Start with a hand tool. Abrasive stone with handle. It will round over the edge easy. Power tools can make it worse really quick. Takes an experienced hand and light touch.
With new concrete, usually just using a piece of a broken block with the rounded inner cell as a sanding block you can shape/round it somewhat. You would have to be careful not to catch a piece of aggregate and make it worse though. Running a grinder through it before removing the forms is an excellent suggestion.
