Need advice on Logan lathe & Baldor grinder

I'm trying to follow an online auction about 90 minutes north of me. Trying to decide if it's worth driving up to the preview later this afternoon.

I'm at my cabin and on a very slow WiFi connection. I can see the listing for Logan lathe(s) but none of the pictures are loading for me, I assume due to the connection.

Direct link to the lathe(s):

https://www.mcphersononlineauctions.com/cgi-bin/mmlist.cgi?mcpherson81/336

My questions:

1) Are there any pictures? This company sometimes updates listings with pictures later in the day but in this case it looks like they're there but I can't see them.

2) The title says lathes, as in plural. I assume this is a typo. Does there appear to be more than one lathe?

3) Can anyone tell a model number or the approximate size of the lathe?

4) Any idea on condition, accompanying parts, etc?

Same issue with this listing for a Baldor grinder.

https://www.mcphersononlineauctions.com/cgi-bin/mmlist.cgi?mcpherson81/310

Is there a picture showing model number or wheel size? Phase? Voltage?

Might take my dog for a hike and see if I can view these pictures on my phone.

One lathe, model 200. Maybe this picture will load for you. There are a total of 11 photos. I don't know anything about lathes so I can't help you there.

Grinder looks to be an old Baldor. Can't read the plate attached to the front for model info. No idea on wheel size as there is a well worn grinder wheel and a well worn wire wheel as well.

The Logan is cute...maybe a 12x36?

There's some tooling but a lot of it looks really old, like I see a drive dog. There's a couple centers (not sure if they're all live) and a drill chuck. It does not appear to have a tool post, so that's a problem IMO (immediate investment at the very least)

There's a stack of gears - I'm ASSuming metric change gears, so that's actually awesome.

Also the lathe presently has a 4 jaw mounted and I'm not making out more chucks. I'd personally want a 3-jaw for 99% of what a machine like that would be used for, so budget for a QC toolpost and 3-jaw right off the bat

Thank you. I am able to view the pictures on my phone now.

I'll research the model 200 some. I suspect this lathe will sell for considerably more than the $306 it was recently up to, if recent online auctions are any indication.

I'll only bid on the Baldor if I get the lathe. I'm not driving all the way up there for just the grinder given no wheel/eye guards or rests. If I get the two cheap I'll certainly use it to some capacity.

The lathe is a Logan 200 change gear machine that looks to have all the change gears with it. I only see the 4 jaw on the lathe, no 3 jaw, no steadies. I'd consider it perty bare bones machine. No bench. On the other hand it looks to be in decent condition. In my area 6-800 bucks would be a good buy. It may go above a $1000.

Ign, thank you for the input.

Older South Bend & Atlas lathes in my area tend to fetch good money at local auctions so I suspect this one will go beyond my comfort zone.

I think your pricing estimates are about right for my area. Another forum said parts are plentiful for model 200 lathes. Hopefully Wi-Fi will speed up enough for me to browse on Ebay & see.

$970 ?! Is there no machinery in your area?

Not really. There was a guy who had a business buying old machinery from back east & selling it locally. I loved scrounging through his stuff & we traded a fair bit. But I never pulled the trigger on one his lathes.

There would be even less if it wasn't for him.

It's an auction. Take whatever is a fair price and times that by a bunch. That's the end result.

I'm actually very surprised the Baldor grinder didn't go for hundreds. Someone recently posted about auction prices and a Harbor Freight hammer lot with about 6 or 7 beat up hammers went for double what you can buy them new.

I would have bought the Baldor if the pick up were closer & at a time I didn't have other stuff going on.

Here in CO any decent (ie non-Chinese) bench top lathe will go $1200+

Location, location, location. But hey I pay $600/yr property taxes for 35 acres, house and 2 shops...

Model 200 is a 10" swing.

The "lantern style" tool post appears to be on the machine.

Change gears should be for American (17 total, ususlly some on the machine), and you can buy a modern gear to convert to metric within i believe 0.02% accuracy.

Does that sale price include a buyer's premium and sales tax? Around here, auction houses are tacking on up to a 20% buyer's premium, plus sales tax. You have to figure that in over a private person sale.

I talked to a guy the other day who frequently talks to an auctioneer. The auctioneer said COVID-19 has been good for auctions but bad if you're trying to flip something. People are bored browsing auctions and there's no deals to be found. If you have to pay retail price or close to it there's no profit. Everything is on the high end.

There's a farm auction near home that sells 3x a year. Before the outbreak, online bidding was just on the high dollar items but now everyone can bid when they want and don't have to stand in the heat, rain, or freezing temperatures. Last winter in the rain I bought a working Clausing 4914 for $250. I doubt I could have bought it for that price if it was an online auction.
