Hi guys, a guy was selling this local. I had a feeling this was a good deal, but I was not sure. Needed to make a decision quick. So I bought it anyway. Now I got to ask whether this is really a decent deal? The photo I got is from web. But the part number is exactly the same.

Can someone tell me roughly when these wrenches were made and who made them for Home Depot? How much are their worth? I am in SF Bay Area. I am not going to use them. I plan to either flip them for a quick profit, or I shall just hoard them. They look nice enough that I can add them to my in-house tool exhibition. Thanks for the help!

He also has a smaller metric set. 10mm to 19mm. No roll bag. Just the wrenches. How much should I pay for those? Also USA made Huskies. Thanks!

Stanley made Husky in the US for Home Depot for a while; Williams made Kobalt in the early days (90's), I haven't heard of Williams Husky myself.

I've got a set of HD Husky satin wrenches with no COO on the wrench I bought in a moment of desperation in the mid to late 2000's (the aughts? I dunno, I think they're made in China). I've since found a small handful of otherwise- identical Husky wrenches with a US stamp on the beam. Same classic fat Stanley beam, same length as Cman, same except for COO stamp. Somewhere around here I've got a FP long pattern Stanley- made in US Husky 9/16". They all show up on ebay from time to time.

ETA, for a good set of US- made wrenches it's a deal. Doubt they'll bring a ton of money on ebay, but worth owning in case you need to use them and don't already have something equivalent. I'd pay $40 for 10- 19mm metric if I needed them, I spent 1.5x that on some Blackhawks (probably pretty much the same wrenches). Seems especially like a good deal given your location.

A 15 piece Tekton set runs $50. $40 for a US made set in good condition sounds like decent deal to me.

Thanks. Guys. I think I shall try to get hold the guy and buy his metric set as well. I do need to drive 50 miles for that though.

Another question is that for a similar set, what is the premium of a metric set over a SAE set. Since SAE tools are less useful, I can observe metric sets are more rare and more expensive for these old wrenches.

Here is a link where an Aussie is selling Taiwan made such wrenches for $67. I guess mine should be around $80 at least if I take time to sell them.

I don't have enough post counts to show the link. But if you guys google 'husky 45005'. You can find it on ebay.

I’m truly surprised that you are able to dig this up! Equipped with 3 years of additional experience, I can tell you that your money is much better spent if you buy old craftsman in good condition. The love for husky, USA or not, is not abundant.

Appreciate where you are coming from, totally agree that in terms of resale, Craftsman is the hot brand the last couple years.

I am actually going to use these, and from a stand point of getting a complete 15 pc set Made In USA for $30, when the next cheapest new alternative (that is Made In USA) I am aware of is a Wright 15 pc set for $200, I was pretty happy.

Did you end up selling that Husky set you found a few years ago?

No. There is no market for them. Probably good if you actually use them.

I also found a 15 piece SAE set recently and started digging for info and found this post. These are beautiful wrenches and well made, worth the cost if its less than a set of full price Icon or craftsman professional set, which are running over $150+ for a similar set.

I like these enough to look for the metric set to match for the right price. Otherwise, a craftsman pro/industrial set or Wright would be sufficient.

Those Husky wrenches look like late 1990's/ early 2000's vintage and made by Stanley. After they disappeared I was wishing I had bought a set. I really liked the satin finish and IIRC the beams (handles) had a rounded edge instead of less comfortable square corners. I wouldn't even consider any used "vintage" Craftsman. They weren't "that" great and having had them would have been happier with the Husky. Just my opinion of course.

The raised panel models or polished professional models?

Same Tekton set is $90 now. Crazy how much that went up.

Most Tekton products have gone up in price over the years. I've been a Tekton customer since 2017.

To be fair however, most of their tools have had quality and feature improvements with new versions... although I don't believe their basic combination wrenches have changed at all beyond price.

I will say Tekton has been upfront and public about some price increases in 2025/2026.

Side note;
This thread is from 2020, but I'm always jealous when I see other people getting these type of deals. I swear people want new retail prices or above for everything these days and will low ball the **** out of you when you're the seller, and it's been like that for years. I recently deleted the OfferUp app, it's not even worth my time anymore.

I've had a set of us made husky combo wrenches since the mid 90's that I still use and they've never let me down. If you come across a set for a good price I wouldn't hesitate to pick them up if you need them.
