Part Two of my walk into John's man cave of vintage tools. The next thing I know he is pulling open a drawer in one of his tool boxes and out he pulls the following pair of pliers; all I can do is stop breathing the air around me, WOW is all can think of at that very moment...
No information about the inventor Joseph N. Johnson, II- Irwin, Merced County, Ca. Patent # 1,866,771 Applied on Jan. 28th, 1929 and Granted on July,12th, 1932. Not able to located any records at this time.
A little in the dark as to why it took so long to sell his product, the search led me to ads dated 1947 (although he could have been selling them all along).
Not much information about the company, (although it is locked in google books) that I can share with you at this time. I found an address of 1133-3rd ave. Oakland 6, Calif. suPERFORM Products Corp.
By this time I was running out of money and trying to clean up all the drool out of my mouth but John was having none of that and on we went...(Many thanks to John for not only showing me his tool collection but letting me buy them to share with the GJ readers).
Interesting to note that the pair I found on the web just had the name stamped into the handle, unlike my plier that every letter is raised very high to form a good grip.
