Took a while since they sent me the Philips instead of the pozi I ordered.

More Ko-Ken stuff. The 9mm socket is missing but I got a 14mm instead?

Since I've been exposed to the below, I've pushed all traditional wire strippers to the back of my drawer. Once you go with one of these, you won't go back:

D1VVxM9.png

What is it about the stripper that makes it advantageous over others, is it the angle rather than straight?

Ingersoll Rand Tech Solutions 752041X 8 piece non-slip metric hex bit socket set. Ingersoll Rand hand tools was running a July 4th promotion on this and a few other sets so, i picked up this set as I don't really have anything like this. First Impressions: comes in a black & red IR box just like their air tools
IR screwed up the color coding by placing a red line on each of the socket bases. Silly IR, red is for SAE not metric. :wtf: the storage rail is, let's say different. at first glance, it looks like a grey version of the current magnetic storage rails snap on uses on some of their sets. It's not. It a red nylon rail with the plastic square drive pegs that has a gray plastic over base on it. Strange. It makes for a very stable base but, doubles the size of the rail. It isn't magnetic.
The bits are made from S2 tool steel and the bases are well finished CR-V. the set is made in Taiwan and contains 3,4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10 mm. The bits have a twisted shape to them. I'll play with them at work and see if I wasted my $34 or not

I have had the approximate equivalent compressor for 16 years now. Mine is a QT-5, back when they were supplied with 60 gallon tanks. I plumbed the whole garage with 1/2" black pipe, dropping down to 3 manifolds at important locations. You will love this compressor. Mine stays on all the time, so instant air whenever I need it. I do turn off the manifolds with a ball valve when not in use. The manifolds (with risers) involve unions and several fittings, so there is very minor leakage there. Turning them off when not in use allows the compressor to kick on maybe once every couple of weeks to keep the system charged.

My new-to-me 2 hp, 20 gal Speedaire compressor. Other than being a bit dirty, it's in excellent condition. Zero water in the tank.

Got myself psyched up going to HF today to finally pull the trigger on a small trailer for the generator, the little Vulcan flux core welder, a transmission jack and maybe the Icon branded Mountain XL ratcheting flex DBE wrench sets.

Not one thing I was going to buy in stock. You'd think is was the end of the world or something!

Received my grandpa's 3/8 drive snap on set. Looks barely used save for the emblem on the ratchet. Anyone know where I can find a replacement?

Member mattblast has a label reproduction thread.

He's close to being able to make machine tags on metal.

He maybe able to do something on foil for you.

Thanks, I will take a look. I am kind of torn between restoring it and leaving in the condition he had it in.

How loud is something like that in a residential garage?

Loud. I have a QT 7.5 and if I cabinet blast I'm 10 feet from it and wear ear muff type hearing protection. For normal use I don't bother as I'm further away and it's not running half the time. I always turn mine off after use as it's in my basement and if it kicks on at 3AM, it's heart attack time :)

A BORA PM-1000 for a Craftsman 12 inch bandsaw and belt sander. BORA is new, bandsaw new-to-me, but old, appears to have little wear, the tires are in good shape. I tried cutting a bit w/it, it performed well w/a 1/4" blade.

Not sure how to-tell if it's a bi-metal blade. I'm gonna try a larger upper pulley to slow blade speed down, to try cutting aluminum stock.

Do they not include them in the rebuild kits anymore? I can't tell if it's damaged or if it's just turned out of alignment but if it's just alignment I think you can disassemble it, realign the plate and then press it back in.

Just curious, since just this week I deliberated hard on which set to get (Mountain or ICON). Icon was $160 with coupon, Mountain was $140 from Amazon. I got the Mountain. Am I missing something besides the easier warranty at HF?

Warranty was the only reason I was looking at them (and I don't have an Amazon account), but if they're having stock issues I guess that kind of defeats the purpose.

Mine what looks to be a sticker that is black and gold vs the red screen printing. Doesn't effect how it works just more about the sentimental value of having it exactly like my grandpa bought it. Maybe I will just leave it as is.

Not sure about the Mountain set, but the Icons are 90 tooth. More importantly for me, I know exactly where I need to go for warranty. Mountain warranty depends entirely on your relationship with who you bought them from. Given the length of these wrenches and the likely use, these are tools that will probably need to actually make use of a lifetime warranty.

Ordered up some pieces to round out my SK set of 1/2” impact sockets. These are nice - fully necked, sizes etched AND stamped, great price (made in Taiwan), and ample availability of singles. Only thing I’m not crazy about is the depth of the chamfering on the fastener end - more than I’d like, which means less socket engagement on installed fasteners, but I find most sockets have the same issue. Pretty happy with these.

Wiring up my new garage lights yesterday. Girlfriend said it’s too hot in here. She ran to the Home Depot and grabbed this.
Wow! What a difference!

Found this machined steel knob at www.swagoffroad.com. You just punch out the rolling pin, insert knob, and press your rolling pin back in. They also have a knob for the newer version of the HF 20 ton press. You can also use this same knob on an engine lift. Life’s too short to be fiddling with the jack handle when you simply need to make a quick adjustment or you’re done pressing in your bearings. Easy peasy!

772514644d57f6dc7b5aed1815cbf844.jpg85dafaab7be3c9abd5a9a74b253466ef.jpg7f308e6f1237be58ebab47d34117d210.jpg21a889d57a71d940ad3601c1214c13cc.jpg

Just ordered one, I spent the last 25 years in a shop with a foot pump, crank/cable adjustment for the cross beam press, been spoiled, now I'm in a shop with such a press, I can afford, $15 to make my life a little easier.
Good thing is I don't use it as much as I did as now I'm more of a parts changer than mechanic but I know how to.
Thanks!

Where are you guys buying your lifts? Finding any good deals? I'm starting a motorcycle shop and may pull the trigger on one soon.

If you plan on doing it professionally I would suggest a high rise lift such as this, https://www.klsupply.com/shop-lifts/mc655r-heavy-duty-hydraulic-lift.asp
Not cheap but a God send for me, of course I didn't pay for them, I negotiated with my new employer, I guess they really wanted me as I got two, LOL!
Old job I had a Snap ON high rise and a Handy, that Handy almost never got used.
