Thanks. I like the early ones. We revisited a sale on Sunday that we had gone to Friday. They had brought out this Xcelite set with holder and since it was half price day I had to have them. They cleaned up pretty well.

I was told this was the Xcelite party over here! Here's a couple pictures of my main box:

Top drawer- Screwdrivers. Philips on the right, flat on the left.there's a couple Vaco's in there too, and some IBM-branded Xcelite and Vaco drivers. And the Sunflag JIS set in the top right.

attachment.php

2nd drawer- Hex, Torx, and Cutch drivers. And 2 full Bondhus sets. I have the Bondhus in the ball-tip drivers, and Xcelite in the flat-tip. The Bondhus set is actually more comprehensive than the Xcelite ball-tip set, so that's why I have it instead. The red case is an offset/ratchet screwdriver set. Some unusual torx drivers there, the XL (extra long) and the TP (tamper proof).

attachment.php

3rd drawer-
Nut drivers. Typical hollow shaft sets, plus the rare stubbies and long-reach drivers. And the little green box is the hard-to-find ratchet/socket set. 0-3 Robertson/Scrulox drivers (zero and three are 99's with scrulox blades since I can't find "real" SL-0 and SL-3 drivers)

Sunday I picked up a P-11 at the local flea market last Sunday. Cute little thing!

I found the large empty box, a little cad plated adjustable and a 5/16 nutdriver at an estate sale yesterday. I’ll need to figure out what came in the box. At least it was free.

That little 4” with the box, pretty cool.
Neat in and of itself (i.e., anything in its original box, but especially an Xcelite tool that isn't a nut driver or screwdriver, which is uncommon, in its original box), but extra neat, in my opinion, for the allusion right there on the box to their earlier incarnation as Park Metalware, a grossly underknown, underappreciated and undercelebrated mfgr that made some of my favorite vintage tools (an adjustable drain plug wrench called the "Xcel" that preceded Blackhawk's "Adjusto" by a decade, and of course the nifty Multi-Head Wrenches). That reference, which many collectors probably wouldn't recognize, is very cool to see and have on an Xcelite item. Like a latecomer Jefferson Starship fan discovering that there was a Jefferson Airplane before that! :)

I found these at a thrift shop recently. In my brief research, I think the screwdriver set is a PS-88 set packaged in a PS-120 plastic container though I have no way of knowing if the previous owner swapped cases.
These are close to brand new unused condition.
Thoughts?

A bit sickened as to what "Could have been". I missed out on this Xcelite 99SM Service Master set in excellent condition, for $12, by 5 minutes. Was 1/2 mile from my house too!!

As if it were haunting me, I picked up an S-K tool box this morning, and sitting in the top tray were two Xcelite nut drivers.

I showed the similar set I found at the Tahoe flea last year in post #104. I also researched my empty box but don’t have the set for it.

Since I seem to have a little extra time on my hands I dug out the Xcelite that’s in the Xcelite storage box rather than my regular user toolbox. It gave me a chance to add in some recent finds

I posted this on the "new tool arrivals" thread, but I figured you Xcelite junkies might enjoy it too. NOS Xcelite ratchet crimpers that I just picked up:

Just picked these up. I've always known about the weird-handled Xcelite nut drivers, but I never owned any. Nor do I know the story of when/where they were made. I wanted to pick up a set of their magnetic drivers. What luck that I should find not only the magnetic set, but a magnetic set with the funky handles! Two birds with one stone!

I had never seen one until somebody posted one on this forum a while back. I wonder if they were made during the brief time when they were working with Snap-On. The handles seem similar shaped to Snap-On handles. Pure speculation...

I have a Snap-On 99-series handle too, from when Snap-on sold rebranded Xcelite 99 sets.

Those are nice looking. I don’t have any that style. My Snap-on is different in appearance. I’ll be on the lookout for some of those.

Nice snag on the comfort handle Xcelites, Cougar. And the magnetics are a nice addition - especially on the longer ones where fastener holding ability counts.

I have this set. It was my dad's. I never use it though, not a lot of need to. I think I am missing 1 bit. And I don't that little one belongs in this set.

That small bit is a 99-style, so it will work with the handle you have. But you are correct, it doesn't go to that set. It looks like one of the little min reversible bits that come with a promo set like this one I have:

You guys did this to me. Pickings from the ReStore today. Priority was a complete set of SAE sizes of hollow shafts, irrespective of brand. An assortment of quality manufacturers provided! A few skips but I think I did ok. Prices ranged from $0.25 to 1 buck each. 9c089b8b85584f8fd03880896f8c091b.jpgffb8435c49624ac9dd618861a02864ac.jpg244e82e1cb569653b57596a876660ee2.jpg

They have nice stuff I have a 1/4 nutdriver from them but that’s it one of the pawn shops in my area that won’t negotiate one bit had a full set both standard and metric wanted $45 for it.

If it's the red and yellow HS sets like these:

attachment.php

$45 for both isn't a bad price if they are in good shape. That way less that you'd pay on ebay.

I wish I would of picked it up now this was when my dad was with me so I couldn’t buy it because I wasn’t allowed to spend more than $20 lol but that was a few months ago Might go back and see if they still have them.

We used Xcelite at work for years. I hated those things because of the smell. My bench buddy would open his toolbox and it stunk to high heaven. My wife still has quite a few from her work in another area, and she can keep them in her toolbox because they still stink.

I do like their small cutters and such. Still have a bunch of them.

Yeah, but at least the smell isn't exponential... I mean one CAB-handled screwdriver of any brand will stink up a drawer just as much as 100 of them. So, you know, you might as well have 100 of them.
