Check the bottom, but the drawers look like Pilloid. the "cloth cover" is factory Leatherette. Felt will be factory also unless replaced.

Size?

Follow up, I thought the SIPCO chest usually had the drawer for the machinist handbook.
Anybody for sure about the brand . Size is 20 x 13 x 9. Thanks

The cloth was on the inside of the top and bottom of the top compartment to keep the felt clean..
Old box with metal covered wood sides.

Checked the bottom drawer, will check the bottoms of the rest of them.

Pretty sure it's a SIPCO, searched this thread because the top handle brackets are kinda ornate and I found a SIPCO pic I posted back in 2014 with the same handle brackets. (D@mn!)

Outlaw, the guide specs indicate a 5/2 drawer configuration and 3 ply metal cover with 20x13x9 size was made 1940 - 1955. It all adds up to Sipco. Thanks

And thanks to Mintgrun for IDing the tool !

I think you are correct Outlaw. I blew up both pics and the Star mirror matches, the SIPCO has a diamond frame. Now I know.

Many thanks!

Brian

Since I'm here, gratuitous shot of my first and favorite Gerstner, dust and all.

I believe Outlaw called it right as a Star. I thinkStar/National cabinet was the only one using the metal on wood drawer slides.

Getting close to finishing this resto, just a few more drawers left to redo. I hate doing the drawers.

A little offer up surfing yielded this k60 rollabench combo circa 1948, complete with original keys.

I posted this in the 2020 garage sale thread, thought I would add it here:

picked up this MBC tool chest locally for $50. Was very grimy, I think machining oil, since there was alot of machining swarf in the drawers. But the oil mostly protected the box from rust. The drawers and top surface had cork liners on them, which I think is the cause of the residue on the top surface. The larger drawer is not shown in the pics but I have, and the bottom drawer(s) and slides (below the horizontal brace) are missing. MB-304A 6023.

Anyways, after alot of Dawn soap and water, and a couple of sponges donated to the cause, it cleaned up pretty well. I will paint the box top (where something ate away the paint), and I may sand and paint the bottom of the bigger drawer (not shown) too.

I was able to straighten most of the drawer slides, but would like to replace one or 2 of the existing. What brand slides (16.25" length) should work? Any ideas on donor drawers too?

thanks

How much $$ if you care to share?

I made an offer but it wasn't enough, which I knew it wouldn't be.

Without going into particulars, he did come down quite a bit. It seems he was in the midst of moving and needed some cash. I am up to 3 of the rollabenches if you are looking for one.

Hey guys! I wanted to show off a new acquisition! Fairly uncommon in these parts. Craftsman/AMD made 10 drawer top chest - 56’ dated and lower 8 drawer crown top roller. It is not dated but based on catalogs we know it was either late ‘58 or ‘59. Top chest has been painted but is pretty straight other than the lid. I would buy a lid if someone has this older style, the trunk corner ones.

I also picked up this nice heritage carry box. Almost mint except for one corner but other than that, the inside is very clean
