Hi,

Looking to buy the US General 44in tool cabinet, currently $439.99 with coupon. Thought I read about this going as low as around $350 at times, true or wishful thinking? Do they typically have a better deal on Black Friday? Do inside Track Club members get better discounts?

Thanks,
Frank

Wishfull thinking, at least for the Gen 2 box. I think $399 is the lowest price it's been for the past year or so. The current $439 sale price is pretty good. If you wait until Black Friday it may go back to $399 but to save $40 I wouldn't wait. In fact, I didn't wait; I bought one a little more than a week ago for $439.

Edit: looks like Crabman beat me to the punch.....

Don't forget to talk to your local store manager as well. If you dont mind a few dings you can get a good discount on items folks have refused. Got a 5 drawer cart that way...only the box was damaged, not a scratch on the cart...walked out with it for $150. Original purchaser refused it at the store without opening, which I took the time to do. YMMV, depending on store and manager.

To each their own, but my boxes get used and scratched though I tend to take very good care of them. If you dont mind a minor cosmetic issue you might save more than even a sale price.

Good luck.

My time is more valuable than the $40 that I might be able to save by waiting for months. The $440 price is a good deal.

I did get an e-mail from HF a few days ago that was offering an extra 10% off on top of the coupon if you signed up for their credit card. I dont really think its worth it but if you shop often at HF it might be as there were other perks to opening a card with them.

You should have been a week earlier when they had the 25% off anything coupon floating around.

Do any of these 20 or 25% off coupons ever truly apply to everything? Seems like big ticket items are usually excluded.

Tempting if I could figure out all the tools worth buying for someone who hardly has any tools at all (my son just bought his first house). The only tools I've ever regretted buying are of the cheap variety, then again, not everything has to be pro quality either. But this may be the topic for another thread.

They are great boxes worth every penny I have two carts and a Craftsman box and the Harbor Freight boxes are great I haven’t ever seen a Black Friday deal at my HF stores but also haven’t ever been there on Black Friday because both of them are in the middle of the city and I don’t want to be in the city at night like that. But a lot of guys I work with like them and have them.

Look at http://www.hfqpdb.com/

If you enter the SKU it'll show all the expired coupons for that specific sku. Gives you an idea what the discount was and how often they are discounted.

As pointed out, the 20%/25% usually has exclusions (welders, toolboxes, stands etc). Above are the coupons for a specific item.

I have the original box and it's been good, was also a good bit cheaper than the new ones. Main issue now is I can't put another side box on mine or a locker or top since they're all 22" boxes now (a definite improvement over my 18"), so I'm stuck with what I have.

There are worse problems to have though.

If 439 is the best current sale and you want it I recommend buying it now. You might lucky with a damaged one for less money also if you are ok with that. Regular prices and coupon prices are climbing. I do not see that changing. We might get lucky and see 399 1 more time but I doubt it.
