SK Tools sponsorship

I don't know how many of you will know who I am talking about but a guy I watch on YouTube was recently sponsored by SK Tools.

Adam LZ has almost 3 million subscribers on YouTube and has his own professional drifting team. His latest video he talks about SK being his newest sponsor and does a walk through of everything they sent him, which was 3 of these packages and toolboxes.

Thought it was pretty neat to see a company like SK sponsor a kid who drifts and plays with cars all day.

(I know the image I uploaded is hard to see. I have included the YouTube link if you wanna watch the video.)

pretty cool, i have been buying alot of SK stuff this year.

Mostly out of the steals and deals section, also the socket of the month club is an awesome deal, 50 bucks for 12 free sockets and free shipping on your orders.

Slowly kitting myself out with SK tools.

latest was 13 Metric deep drive SAE socket set for 50 bucks, just got it delivered.....flawless. The little inner coated paint threw me for a loops because sometimes it is uneven or missing, but now that i know what it is. Everything i have gotten from them has been phenomenal.

I actually don't have any SK stuff, I've used some of their stuff before and liked it. I was really close to getting a few things off their newest steals and deals section, but I'm trying to limit extra spending to finish my racecar lol.

SK was and still is great. Best thing is their warranty . I got some old SK sockets off ebay. They were ancient, rusty and also split. Sent them off to SK and waited about 6 weeks and got some shiny new ones !!

Watched the first few minutes of the video. He says coupon code "AdamLZ" will get you 25% off at SK.

SK is amazing almost Snap-on quality I am getting ready to buy some impact sockets from them still made in USA also as a professional mechanic I can’t be more happy with them. I have bought most of mine at the pawn shops and bought a cracked one and got it warrantied it was great to get a fresh new socket. I myself have never cracked on broke one of their sockets so that means they are great.

Can somebody explain the attraction of drifting to me. I painted a former friends drift car, which he quickly wrecked as expected, but to me the only form of racing that makes sense is rally car. You know, when you're trying to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible just like in real life. I know the **** invented drifting because they don't have any land upon which to build race tracks but sliding around a circle destroying tires on purpose seems a little dumb to me. I also like F1 but that's normally on tracks about 3 miles long requiring both left and right turns so it's pretty close to rally car.

Too each their own, but my kids know they won't have keys they didn't buy themselves if they try to drift in one of my vehicles.

SK should probably focus on broaching their sockets correctly rather than throwing product and money at YT "influencers".

Too each their own.

My recommendation is go to an event and go for a ride along. I was biggggggg into drag racing, roll racing and autox for about 10 years before going to a roll race event at Pocono raceway that also had a drift event going on at the same time.

I managed to get a ride along with someone and was instantly hooked. Currently have a 1999 BMW e36 setup for drifting that makes right under 500WHP.

Something about just going out and having fun with your friends, no time to beat, no HP race, just pure fun. Just pure fun and enjoyment. Sure there is the competition side of drifting, but that is 10% of it. It is mainly about going out and just enjoying yourself. and until you experience it, its hard to understand why. But going out and trying to drive the best line, with the most tire smoke, getting as close to a wall or obstacle without hitting it is an adrenaline rush.

For me it started out as a way to test/push my skills even more. To do more fabrication and get my feet wet in another motorsport. turned into me selling my other vehicles and being fully involved in drifting.

I like drifting because it seems to be right on the edge of out of control while still maintaining precision driving. Watching a car throw it backwards on entry doing 100+ mph while door to door with another is exciting. (this is at the professional level)

I have never actually "drifted" myself. I used to do donuts when I was younger in my GTO (2004), but I didn't know what I was doing. I actually regret selling that car as I would have loved to make it into a drift car. I would love to have another one someday. I currently have a street stock dirt track car that takes most of my time and money.

I thought it seemed dumb at first when I first started seeing it until I learned more about it. I guess that's the way I feel about drag racing. I think it's cool and all and can appreciate the skill and the cars, but driving in a straight line for a handful of seconds doesn't do a whole lot for me, which is funny because my 3 closest car friends all drag race while I have a dirt car.

what's wrong with them?....because they are a shallow broach on the deep sockets?

There are all sorts of threads on here where their sockets and wrenches aren't broached on center. Frankly, there are a a nontrivial number of quality complaint threads on here in general.

They can make a good tool. They can also make a **** one. Which you get is luck of the draw.

so its drilled off center?

bizarre, I don't think I have looked at an individual socket long enough to notice something like that.

I have had nothing but good luck with them, the only thing I have noticed being inconsistent is the grey anti-rust paint.

Agreed. I really wanted to like SK but let's just say I learned that made in the USA doesn't necessarily mean high quality.

I've had the opposite experience. I have a lot of SK and have no problems with any of it.

AdamLZ discount code was not valid when I tried it.

Did you only have "steals" in your cart? If you add something else to your cart, it takes 25% off the regular price but not the "steals". If you only have "steals" in your cart then it says the coupon is not valid. Just tested it.

Nice to see SK getting out there again. As for quality? I did the math of adding up my orders (big mistake!) and realized I spent thousands on SK this winter. I've yet to see any problems with any of it frankly. Quite the opposite. They've been great.

As for complaints, remember that this is Garage Journal, where tools often get judged by the image quality of your reflection in the chrome! ;)

1/2 the complaints on here about them are about the gray paint inside sockets. People think it's a chrome qc issue.
