first one is a 5/8 square wrench , probably for a machine of some sort. second is a sewing awl for heavy material, maybe shoes?

Yup makes sense there were shoes in the trash with that cool thanks.

I think that the 5/8" wrench was used for opening and closing a gas or water **** that did not have a handle. They were used to help prevent tampering with.
