Flame cabinet locks

I got a new to me flame cabinet in the shop and wanted to be able to lock it, but it came with no keys. The code on the barrel is C420A and I bought a matching key online since apparently these are standard elevator/cam lock keys.

Now, the key inserts just fine but won't turn. The handle turns 90 degrees like it's supposed to but I can't get the lock to... Lock!

I flushed it with wd-40 and cycled the key a bunch to where it goes in smooth, but still not locking.

Any ideas?

It may have been re-keyed at some point. How difficult would it be to pull the lock set and replace it with a new on or have the old lock re-keyed by a locksmith?

Pictures of the bolt and/or locking mechanism? The way you describe this - it sounds like the mechanism is disconnected from the cylinder.

C420A is a common code, so it’s odd that it doesn’t work. Most T handle locks (if that’s what you have) are not rekeyable. Either way it’s an easy swap.
